Injuries effecting Play

In one of my tournaments, Mike Bossy of the Islanders gets a major injury in the first period. A few minutes later, Bossy is out with his line playing.

Are Bossy's playing abilities diminished in the game? Should I be pulling him to keep him from getting injured worse?

He wasn't a major factor in the game, which could have been because of his injuries, and the Islanders did win the game.

We've had some discussions internally about this. We may make a change, but there's lots of occasions where players tough it out throughout a game, and then go on the IR for extended periods of time.
