PCHA Stanley Cup
Started a new game in 1917, mainly simming. I control league expansion.
It's 1929-1930 and the PCHA is still challenging for the Stanley Cup. Was this changed in the last update or is this a bug? I'm certain they stopped playing for the cup at the correct time prior to the last update, even though the PCHA always remained active. I could just reduce the PCHA to 2 teams, reduce their arena size and budgets and just ignore them. Let me know if you need a save. |

This save is clearly glitched. Further errors:
1930-1931 did an expansion but the expansion draft didn't show up like it normally does. ie couldn't stop on the day see the available players and go through the draft pick by pick or even sim it. Just didn't show up anywhere, not even as an "Auto play to event option". The draft did happen, I just couldn't stop and participate as one normally could. In previous expansions, in this save, it had worked fine. Don't think I did anything wrong but I still find this screen awkward to set up so maybe I did. 1933-1934 - NHL finals playoffs somehow switched to a total goal competition and ended tied (I think at 8-8). I had auto-played to the beginning of the Stanley Cup. Simmed to end of season, no more NHL playoff games displayed as I simmed, though the Stanley Cup did. On June 30 NHL History showed no champion, the display that normally chows the champion at the top of the screen when simming still showed last years champion. Stanley Cup champion (still as a competition with PCHA) displayed fine. Simmed to July 1 and Boston showed up as NHL Champion. Uploaded as PCHA Stanley Cup |

Started a second game at 1917. To test the errors above.
PCHA still playing for Stanley Cup past the actual historical time. For the 1929-1930 I edited the PCHA to become the Timiskaming Professional Hockey League. I dropped the 3 PCHA teams and added 3 teams that were in the TPHL and NHA. Stanley Cup stopped being a competition between the NHL and the 2nd active league only at this point. So my assumption at this point is something changed in the last update and the PCHA will always compete for the Stanley Cup unless the PCHA name is edited? Other glitches While expansion draft stopped showing up in the auto-play to event function for 1930 (showed up in '20 and '25) if I advanced to the correct date I could still manually go through the expansion draft. Played through 34-35 season and the NHL playoffs have not reverted to a total goal series yet. |

Very strange, it should be shutting down the NHL-western version of the final after 1926, regardless of whether or not the PCHA/WCHL/WHL keeps going. And if it didn't, editing the name years later shouldn't have stopped it; the internal ID wouldn't have changed. We'll have to dig into the save and see what's going on there.

The last update has not fixed this issue. PCHA/WHL is still playing for the cup in 1957.

No it's a new game with the new update (6.5.63), Unless I didn't update it correctly.

Yeah, looks like it's still not shutting down properly, we'll have another look at it.
