What's the Rarest Thing You've Ever Seen in OOTP?
Just curious, been playing the game for 15 years. I've never seen a triple play. I've seen one in-the-park HR. I've had one player hit over .400. I've had one perfect game. I play out all my games.
What's something you've only seen once, or maybe have never seen but heard about. What's your unicorn? |

No hitters
I have yet to see one in person.

Four home run games. Only seen two in all my probably over 100 seasons of OOTP over five versions.

In my fictional world, I've played out every game of my team for 15 seasons (well, actually I just sorta rebooted the league due to corrupted files but that's a story for another day, I don't regret that) over last two calendar years.
I've never seen a four-HR game or a .400 AVG. I've seen stolen home once... against me. One perfect game (very satisfying). One triple play (in the first month of the first season... go and figure). Three no-hitters, one of them clinching division series. Several inside-the-parks. Several other very memorable moments (while not exactly unicorns in the sense of original question): - my legendary SP, not exactly known for his contact, never mind power, hitting a grand slam. - a 22-inning game, also in my first season, if I remember correctly. - three bench-clearing brawls in a single game. I was directly responsible for only one of them. Lots of suspensions flying. - last night, a walk-off strikeout swinging reaching first... on a wild pitch. Didn't know it was even possible (I have of course seen lots of reaching first on passed balls). |

Was running a test MLB league a couple of years ago and this happened...

In an OOTP 3 test league I had ARod hit 5 home runs in a single 9-inning game. I think he had 11 RBI. That was probably the most unlikely thing I have ever seen in the game...

Haven't had a .400 avg yet, or a 4HR game. Seen a couple triple plays. Longest game so far is 25 innings. Only 1 perfect game thus far. Have also only had 1 hitter's triple crown. Oh, and 1 pitcher's triple crown, which i actually think is harder to achieve.

I have seen a .400 average, but the one thing I'm waiting for is Pete Rose's record being broken. Miguel Cabrera came close one time, he finished with 4230 hits or some sort.
I just had Chris Davis hit 70 HR, which was something I never thought I'd see anyone do.

Edit: I've seen a few guys get close, but they always seem to fall short in the wins department. Also note: i play mostly in god-mode

I mostly play that way, too. I'm the benevolent watch-maker.

For me it was probably the steal of home to win the game. (It was supposed to be a squeeze play. The batter missed but the runner was safe!)

I would say this is the rarest thing I have ever seen in OOTP, the starting pitcher hitting for the cycle... Absolutely amazing. Happened only once in MLB history that a pitcher that actually pitched in that game did that. In 1888, Jimmy Ryan, a OF pitching in relief in that game for the Chicago White Stockings

In a fictional league I was managing the game where a player (against me) broke the all time his record (3,993 at the time) and he ended up going on to have 4,300+ hits in his career....never hit over .400 though in a season once. He did play for 26 seasons, with the last 6 with my team just because I wanted to see how many he could get in his career.

Having a active 3,000 hitter will never happen to me.

In a historical league set in 1985 (I think) Sid Fernandez threw a no-hitter and lost 2-1. One run scored on a bases-loaded walk and another on an error.
