I guess there is a similar situation with Mark Fidrych, but there are two versions of Red Faber from 1921 with very slightly different attributes. Does anyone know if the 86 OVR Top WAR version consistently outperforms the 83 Record Breaker to make the price difference be worth spending the extra points?

Edit: Actually, Wilbur Wood (1971) seems to have the same thing. Are the different versions of essentially identical players a common occurrence, or just a weird fluke?

It's a weird fluke. We tried to eliminate most of these, but a few slipped by us
