IFA cap offer
Default MLB
There was a highly rated international free agent that I offered the full $5M cap to, and he accepted my offer but another team matched it and there was nothing I could do to raise my offer and I lost him to an equal bid. Is there some way to deal with this? |

Obviously you could go into commish mode and give him to you, but all you can do is make the max offer and if a guy gets multiple max offers, he'll pick whichever team he prefers. It just might not be yours

Obviously the game shouldn't say he accepted the offer though, and then give him to another team, guess that's probably a bug. You could look at it as having had a verbal agreement with him, and he changed his mind before signing a la DeAndre Jordan.

I mean they locked him in his house and didn't allow any outside contact with him until the deadline passed...Shenanigans.

Perhaps that comes down to their personalities. If they want to win and they think another team has a better chance they take that offer. |

Players can sign for a number of reasons, mostly related to their personality. So that's where the desire for winner, family, adaptability, etc... ratings come into play most. So, for example, they are more likely to sign with their "hometown" team all other things being equal.

I had a similar scenario, but was able to get the guy. I was kind of perplexed at first, because I made the max offer, then he came back and said somebody else had beaten me. So I went ahead and offered the max again, and he said thanks. This happened like 4 times. Finally I got the email saying he picked me. Not sure if re-offering makes a difference or not, but seems to have worked for me in the one case I have had.
