RIP Fred McLeod
https://www.cleveland.com/cavs/2019/...at-age-67.html
Very, very sad news for Cleveland Cavaliers fans. Fred McLeod was our TV play-by-play guy for 13 years. His broadcast partner, analyst and former Cavs star Austin Carr, was devastated, as was everyone who welcomed them into their homes for so many years. Fred and Austin brought so much joy to Cavalier Nation. Their on-screen banter, their great sense of humor, and the ease with which they related to each other got us through many winters of difficult basketball and a few years of never-to-be-forgotten glory. We will really miss Fred's enthusiasm as a fan, his ability to capture and express in words the agony and ecstasy of following the Cavs, and his basic decency as a human being. His wife is a TV weather forecaster here. It's difficult to express just how sad my wife and I were when we heard the news. When my wife texted me at work I thought she had stumbled across just another stupid internet hoax. But then I looked it up and found that the Cavs had made the announcement. I cried at my desk. Luckily I sit at the end of a row, in a corner of the building, so nobody saw me. Life is so very fragile...
