Post Historical database issues go here.

Hi guys:

Please post any issues with the historical db's here. Players importing multiple times, not importing, crazy ratings, wrong stats or other stuff like this. Spritze and Bigrod will do their best to respond and to fix and issues.

Thanks for your help in making OOTP better!

The 2017 Dodgers have the wrong Josh Fields.

Ratings for many players on 1977 LA Dodgers and 1977 NY Yankees when I selected Historical Database and 1977 World Series are off. For example, steve garvey has a Con of 30.

Pitcher? That is who we have on the Dodgers. What type game are you playing?

Ratings are made by the game, not the database. the database consists of stats only.

In Historical Exhibition mode, I just chose the 1977 WS. I see nothing unusual. Garvey, for example, is rated 65 for CON.

Please be sure to designate what historical mode you are using when you report these challenges.

Ok. I didnt select the pre-made historical World Series.

Now I notice if I set up any 2 teams from 1977 using Historical Exhibition, all of the main hitters CON numbers are way off. see pic.

But if a set up a full 1977 replay from historical seasons, then the numbers look correct.

Playing in Historical Exhibition mode, the Dodgers have a half-star international outfielder named Josh Fields instead of the relief pitcher.

Something is up with the contact ratings.
Random debut so I know things will be different but the ratings seem wrong

In Historical Exhibition mode, I set up a series between the Dodgers and Yankees (but not using the World Series option). Again, I see no issues with ratings. Garvey is rated 65 in CON, for example. I have no idea why you're seeing different results.

I checked the Opening Day and End of Season rosters for the Dodgers. fieldjo03 is included in each. He's the pitcher Josh D Fields, so this is correct.

Contact is off in the historic league

I ran a historical league with players from all era starting in the power era 1993-2004. Noticed a large amount of the hitters with their contact rating in the 20-30 range. I wasn't sure if the rating system changed so I played out a full season. I had Barry Bonds with a 22 contact rating 100 power 98 eye at age 24. He batted .099 24 HR 18 SB. Similarly Ryan Braun at age 30 batted .099. Meanwhile Addie Joss, a pitcher, lead the league in hitting at .378 with a .446 obs playing CF when he didn't pitch.

I also ran a new standard game to see who the game thought would win this year. The contact rating issue in the historical league wasn't there.
The only major aberration was that jumped out at me was Justin Turner. He has 32 career stolen bases and is 34 years old. Never more than 7 in a season. He stole 28 of 32 attempts for the Dodgers.

Neither of these 2 leagues did I change any of the modifiers.

Yankees beat the Dodgers 4-2.

I have asked this question many times and have yet to get an answer.
Roberto Clemente had arguably the greatest arm ever in Right Field.
He won 12 Straight Gold Gloves.
I am in my 50's and saw Clemente play at both Forbes Field and Three Rivers Stadium.
You can Youtube the 1971 World Series and see, how at age 37, Clemente's arm was like a cannon.
No matter what season I start a new game 1955-1970, His over defense is lower than other players, and his arm is never rated an 80.
His baserunning speed is inaccurate as Clemente had track like speed.

Willie Mays running speed is also confusing. He also had track like speed. There are other older player's I have questions on. I figured I would start here.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

Thank you.

.
pretty much nobody gets an 80 rating every year. 1961 is clementes best individual year for ofarm.

he ranks #1 in career ofarm for rf in the database. Not sure what your expectorations are but number 1 is pretty good in my book.

speed ratings are game produced. the database has got nothing to do with those.

In 1965 Clemente's arm is rated a 65.
In 1965 Aaron's arm is rated a 70
In 1965 Johnny Callison arm is rated a 65.
Your database is flawed somewhere.

That's just 1 year, I could list more years if needed.
That doesn't look like he ranks #1.

Also what about his base running speed?
In 1965 it is a 35? He can barely tag up on a fly ball. This guy had track like speed.

Thank you.
Broadcaster Vin Scully acknowledged Clemente's rocket-like arm strength when he noted that “Clemente could field the ball in New York and throw out a guy in Pennsylvania."

I think I see why you might be having challenges.

I understand what you are saying, and I am not trying to be difficult.
But what the stats don't show is players didn't run on him. Base runners in the National League feared the arm of Roberto Clemente. He could seemingly throw out any runner trying to pick up an extra base. Clemente's arm was not only powerful but it also featured laser-like precision.

This is where my confusion sets in. How does the game, take this fact into account?

I want to thank you, for taking the time to answer some of my questions.

The database uses a "bases not taken" stat for this. It is on BBref as I disremember.

I guess I really do not know what your expectations are per Clemente. He is not likely to rank higher than number one no matter what.

Sorry for the confusion, that's my fault.
The question I should have asked is:
If you are ranked as #1, how then do other Right Fielders have the same or better, defensive ratings that the #1 player?
This confuses me about Bill Mazeroski defensive ratings. He is in the Hall Of Fame because of his defense. He is considered the greatest fielding 2nd baseman of all time. Yet, every year there are better fielding second basemen, that Mazeroski.

I am not saying I am right, I'm just confused on what the defensive ratings actually mean.

Thank you again
