Game will not backup
I am attempting to backup my current dynasty and it is refusing to do so.
I tried last night. It seemed to start, so I left the room. Came back a few minutes later and the screen had whited out. Tried again today, it never really even seem to get going although it didn't white out either. I lost my last franchise this way. Something corrupted and I hadn't been able to backup. Hate to see it occur again. |

Copy your entire universe directly from the file system avoid using the game engine?
Perhaps that will work for you. |

How do you do this exactly? Are you saying the game backup and save system is not sufficient to get a good backup for your league? |

Deleted backup folder.
Started it left room. It seemed to start, but did not advance far. Checked task manager -- not responding message. Clicked on game window -- it immediately went white. |

So a manual copy of the directory will work. |

I'd submit a ticket on it but others have suggested just copying the directory. Thats probably your best best. All you need is the .DAT files. You would have to reload jerseys and logos and a few other things. Sounds more like a PC problem vs a OOTP problem but i could be wrong.

Easiest way is just to zip the save game folder of your league.
MyDocuments>Out of the Park Developements>OOTP Baseball xx>saved_games With 7-Zip just right click the folder (YourLeagueName.lg) and select the option you want.

I don't even bother to use the in-game backup option. I zip my league files and it works like a charm

Yeah, I usually do it every off-season and move it to another drive and I also do a backup anytime I'm changing my league structure or other modifications (just in case).

if you ever make a new backup, any that is also not the first time you've clicked since creation, make sure to click "full copy" [sic] check box option when starting the new backup. (not related to your current problem, but about to cause a new one, if you don't)
it would lose all incremental data from before previous save, otherwise. not league stats, but news, history, injuries, and all that derivative stuff from games. players stats are safe. league statistical history and records are safe etc... the asthetic stuff is all gone, though. well, anything not incrementally new from the last time you clicked 'backup.' do you have space on the storage device? is RAM heavily in use? rhetorical to deduce cause of current problem. eliminate the easy stuff. run a scandisk/chkdsk funciton of some sort... /f will auto-fix errors, if i recall. somethign could be corrupt with installation.. could try re-installing, if you have not. do take proper precautions to set aside or take note of anything customized that could potentially be lost by doing this. check SMART features of HDD/SSD. make sure it isn't failing. if copy/pasting saved directory into backup directory works, it's not your hardware. it's the game's fault. if you can't do it outside the game, it's less likely the game's fault. |
