Franchise Hockey Manager 5 Public Beta Download Links

The FHM5 Pre-release public beta is now underway. If you have pre-purchased Franchise Hockey Manager 5, the beta version of the game (eSellerate only!) is now available for download; emails with your eSellerate serial numbers have been sent out.

PC Beta Installer Download:
http://cdnfiles.ootpdevelopments.com.../fhm5setup.exe

Mac OSX Beta Installer Download:
http://cdnfiles.ootpdevelopments.com...5Installer.dmg

Installation Instructions
Download the installer for your OS and start it. After you have installed the game (preferably to the default location) and started the game, click the "Enter License" button. Then enter your eSellerate serial number (i.e. paste it via Ctrl + V) which you can find in the confirmation email of your pruchase. The format of the serial number is "FHM5-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX"

If you cannot find the serial number or you have activation issues, please see here for support: Licensing problems knowledge base

Please post any problems/bugs you run into in the Bug Reports Forum (but have a look at the reporting guidelines first when reporting bugs, please.)

This is, as the name indicates, the pre-release version of the game, so we're still fixing, adding, and adjusting things prior to the official release. There are a few specific things you should be aware of (in addition to a variety of other minor things we're working on):

-rosters and data are still being worked on, as can be expected given the state of the real rosters and transactions in the first week of the NHL season - not just for the NHL, but for all leagues since player moves at the top ripple down through the leagues. NHL rosters were last updated on Friday - the Jean-Sebastien Dea waiver claim by New Jersey is the last player move reflected. Unless we find serious data issues that require immediate correction, the first update to the roster data, containing accurate opening night rosters, will be part of the first post-release game update early next week (i.e., not in Friday's release version.)
-certain team colour configurations (usually two-colour ones like Detroit or Toronto) have problems with the new menu system and will cause menu names to appear blank when the menu is selected, and some tabs in menu bars to appear blank. (All the options are still functional, and the tabs can also be selected via the top dropdown menus, where their names will be visible.) This is an issue with the new menu system; we're hoping to be able to fix this without having to resort to database-wide changes in team colour data, so we likely won't make a change here until we know if this will be possible.
-there are some temporary restrictions on league restructuring, e.g. limiting leagues to a maximum of 36 teams. This is to avoid game-breaking issues with the re-scheduling system; these will be adjusted (probably significantly and soon) once we're sure the scheduler can handle them in a stable way.
-even with those restrictions, the league editing tools are very powerful and making extreme adjustments will lead to strange results. Remember that the basic hierarchies and relationships between leagues can't be changed, only the internal operations of the league - if you cut the NHL down to two teams with minimal budgets, for example, that will cause extreme disruption to the game's economics, and the AI of other leagues and the players will only be able to cope with that situation to a limited degree. The entire in-game hockey universe will not completely rearrange itself to adjust to such a radical change in the top league.
-we're in the process of fine-tuning player generation and development in custom leagues; it's close to where we want it, but there will definitely be more changes coming.
-historical games with the new random debut option should avoid starting in 1972-1978 for now, as there are issues with the way the random debut system handles the WHA (1972 has a severe problem, the other years just tend to have WHA teams retain a handful of each team's real roster from that season rather than having 100% randomization.)
-the real-single game records for leagues haven't been initialized yet and will start at 0.
-tooltips are temporarily inactive, we'll be adding them later in the week.
-the manual is still being finalized and will be available in the next day or two, with possible further revisions later in the week
-finally, be aware that the calculations for ability and potential (the star ratings) have been completely reworked. What you're used to seeing in previous versions of FHM may no longer apply, particularly in terms of potential - it'll be more common now to see players not reaching their displayed potential, and you'll see more high-potential players than you did previously. The extra uncertainty is deliberate, and you shouldn't assume your training choices are bad because you're seeing fewer players than you're used to hit their potential.

Generally speaking, it's safest to wait for the Friday release version, or even the first update next week, before embarking on any really long-term or large-scale projects with FHM5.

We may release an update to the prerelease version at some point this week, depending on the issues that are reported and the pace of preparations for the full release.

Thank you for supporting Out of the Park Developments.
