Recycling Players
I started a Historical league in 1882.
I have random rookies from all eras checked. I have Delete players who never reach majors checked. Question: The players who get deleted from never reaching the majors, do they get recycled in future years? Thank you |

they reside in the game's database until you do a "purge."
until that point, their playerID will not be re-used. always do a full backup before using the purge function. i've never had a problem, but one little error will screw up many players. |

When you do a purge, do they then get recycled? |

yup...
in '16, i had to re-do my retired #'s after a purge. the links didn't update with the new playerIDs. some small things like that may still rear their ugly head. not sure if it was fixed in '17 (e.g. some automated text that used the player's id at the time when it was generated - nothing relative to the real functions of the game will be adversely affected). it will read as the right player name, but link to the wrong playerID. still do a full back-up (copy all files if you use mutliple back-up locations). one little transcription/translocation error and your database is useless. computers do make mistakes on a rare occasion (usually human error though).
