How'd This Guy Become a FA After Signing a 3 Yr Deal The Year Before?

Barton is the 2nd best active CL. He was traded then signed a 1 yr deal a then a 3 yr deal with Cincinnati. Nothing ion his history shows that he was released or opted out, so how did he become a FA in back to back seasons?

Year 2 might have been a team option.

Could have been a 75 inning vesting option. He pitched 71.1 innings. Unlikely though.

Also you say Cincinnati but I see only Dodgers and Texas 3 year contracts in your transactions screenshot.

Noticing the same thing. It's not do to any storylines or contract stipulations, its something random and should be looked at further. It recently happened to a player that was under 6 years of MLB service.

Checking it up, it looks like on vesting options we don't put a news item, so that seems like the most likely case that's happening here.

Maybe they could be included? While we are on the subject of transaction news, is there any possibility of including dates in which players are promoted or demoted in their need profile?

Actually double checking, I don't know if we put any of that info into the player history now (we should, obviously). If you check the team transaction log or news log, you will likely see the reason.
