Has anyone done a 2016 Angels sim with trading Trout?
Or doing a 2001 Giants sim starting with trading Barry Bonds?
Really any case where you trade a team's best player after being the reigning MVP. It seems like it'd be interesting to see what kind of haul you can get and then where you'd go from there with the players you get, so I'm curious if anyone has tried something like this. Thanks! |

with most sports games, the trading system isn't robust enough to protect against abuse.. so things are in place to limit that. i'm sure if you change from normal difficulty it may be different.
anyway, it'll be hit or miss on your haul... since it's a historical league, it will be mostly one or the other the first year, because of the trading envrinment being the same every time you start the league up. if it's lucky enough that a team with a ton of prospects highly values and wants trout, you'll get a huge haul. under historical starts, thers no maybe... it wil lbe one or the other (ripped off or a good trade), i just don't know which it is off hand, because the setting is exactly (mostly) the same each time you start. as far as a "reigning" mvp (or rather as well-rated as a Trout, becaue those awards go to chumps on occasion) being traded, your more likely to to get ripped off, becaue that's how the playing field is purposefully slanted. in general if i can get a 1:1 for a nearly developed prospect by trading an "in prime" talent, i'm quite ecstatic about that. i am not one to tradea 76-80 for 3-4 50-60's.... although some situations may warrant that approach, i never paint myself into a corner that requires that type of drastic action. i would have to make increadibly bad decisions for multiple years to have/want to do that. Yes, trading Trout was the first thing I did when I bought OOTP. It was not a good idea. I got 5 prospects for him (i think from the Cubs, although the Dodgers also offered 5 prospects). The players I got got in exchange for Trout were all busts. Then again, Trout wasn't that good in the simulation either.
