Strange Glitch with Retired Player
Ok have an odd one. Wondered if anyone has seen this before.
I had two star 40+ year old players in the free agent pool so I decided to just manually retire them. I have done that many times in the past. A few game years later I happened to look at the leader board (where they lead a few catagories) and they are not there to be found. Odd. I can still find them in the retired players pool. they still have their stats listed on their stats pages- but oddly their personal history is mostly missing, as is their player facegen picture. But if I go to the awards page, they are listed properly with the awards they won, and if I go to team history and click on a year, they are listed with their proper stats for that year. I can unretire them, put them on a new team, retire them again, even manually put them in the hall of fame (which I did and their stats appear on the hall of fame page) but for some odd reason they don't show up in the leaderboards again. It was just odd, so wanted to pass that out, in case someone wants to try manually retiring a player FROM THE FREE AGENT POOL who may be #50 on a leaderboard, then see if they still appear on the leaderboard afterwards. Just a curiosity. Could be some odd corruption in the game save. Its not a problem, just like I say a curiosity I pass along. |

Haven't ever seen this before and I've simmed a few hundred years across different sims and manually retire guys pretty often. If they were 50th on the leaderboard are you sure they didn't get passed by someone else? Or were tied with someone else?

it sounds a lot like you deleted them by mistake

Yes the players are now deleted. Gone. and their spaces in awards are filled by the names of new players with their player id.
What I found odd was usually after deleting a player, all their stats as well dissappear right away- the fact they stuck around for a few game years is what seemed so odd to me. As I say, not a problem- just doing some league tests to get ready for what I want to do in OOTP 16. I guess be careful before you retire a star player to make sure you click retire and not delete. |

Post from about four years ago that is still 95% accurate, to the best of my knowledge:
