No one thinks this is anything?........

In a story on JJ Watt's wedding, it mentions in passing Brian Cushing is the Texans assistant strength & conditioning coach.

No one see anything wrong with hiring a guy who was suspended twice by the NFL for banned substances to head up your weight room? Would we be OK w/McGwire being in charge of St.Louis' s weight room?

It’s just not as big a deal in the NFL, I think.

Uh, no brainer here. Yeah, bad choice.

For some reason, what I said in your "I'm intrigued to see how Goodell handles this one" thead comes to mind: "You wonder how people who ostensibly have enough brains to make a ton of money can be so stupid."

So what happens. There is some drug scandal on the Texans team, people get suspended, management gets fired, the commissioner and team owner(s) make lame statements and excuses. Duh.

I've made good money in my lifetime, but nowhere near as these geniuses. I'm sitting in my armchair here, knowing what I would and wouldn't do in these situations. Indeed, why does life reward some people with riches when they are too dumb to know what is right and wrong?

I get the feeling that in the NFL so many players are using PED's not just for performance, but because almost every single player is carrying at least some kind of injury at all times, that no one in football really cares.

And what is not talked about enough is the level of opioid use by professional football players.
I think that is the dirty secret no one really wants to address.
It may be an issue across almost all major sports as we saw with MLB this past year.

I think if the DEA or a similar agency of another government was to take a lot at the level of opiates that were prescribed and taken by professional athletes that it would be a major black eye to that league.

Speaking of which, does anyone know what came about after the DEA investigation of the Saints? What you just said popped that into my mind. I'd forgotten all about that.

I do not know about that specific one, but the 2014 lawsuit launched against the league in California court was dismissed and in 2017 the DEA in 2017 essentially washed their hands of the matter after the NFL came up with a prescription compliance plan and all 32 teams agreed to it.

I am sure that is going great
