The Chicago Cubs will end this road trip with four games in five days in Brooklyn against the Superbas beginning today. The Cubs are 5-7 on this road trip. The Superbas have lost four of their last five. The Cubs lead the season series 8-4.

The Cubs placed CF Jimmy Slagle on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8.

In the bottom of the second, the Superbas loaded the bases with nobody out. Reardon flew out to center and there was one down. Hughes hit a sacrifice fly to center to put the Superbas on the board. But that is all the Superbas would get.

Nothing of note happened in the middle innings.

In the top of the seventh, Steinfeldt tied the game with a sacrifice fly.

The score stayed tied as Beebe pitched a perfect ninth and the game went into extra frames.

After nine: Chicago 1 Brooklyn 1.

In the top of the tenth, Beebe hit a two out double and then Evers drew his 30th walk of the season. Hofman then put the Cubs on top with a two run double.

Beebe then pitched a perfect tenth to end the game.

Final score: Chicago 3 Brooklyn 1 10 innings.

Brown had a no-hitter through three.

After three: Chicago 0 Brooklyn 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lumley drilled a one out triple for the Superbas first hit of the game. Jordan followed up with a triple of his own to put the Superbas on the board. Jordan then scored when Alperman grounded out to short.

In the top of the fifth, the Cubs got on the board thanks to an RBI double from Hofman. Evers then delivered a two run single and the Cubs had finally scored three runs in a game without needing extra innings.

In the bottom of the sixth, Hofman made his tenth error of the season at short and Lumley scored from third to tie the game.

After six: Chicago 3 Brooklyn 3.

In the bottom of the seventh, with runners at first and second and nobody out, McCarthy advanced the runners with his 20th sacrifice hit of the season. Lumley then brought both runners home with a single.

McIntire then pitched a perfect ninth to seal the deal.

Final score: Brooklyn 5 Chicago 3.

Today is the third game in the series in Brooklyn between the Cubs and the Superbas. Despite the injuries, offensive struggles and seven game losing streak they endured, the Cubs can still finish .500 on this road trip if they win the final two games of this series in Brooklyn.

The bottom of the first ended with Moran throwing out Lumley as he was trying to steal second. It was the 40th time this season that Moran caught a base stealer.

In the top of the second with runners at the corners and one out, the Cubs tried a squeeze play but Noonan failed to make contact and Schulte was tagged out at home.

The bottom of the second ended with Casey striking out for the 40th time this season.

Batch led off the bottom of the third with his 10th double of the season. But the Superbas ended up stranding runners at the corners.

In the bottom of the fourth, a single to center by Casey combined with an error by Evers allowed Lumley to score the game's first run as he raced home from second.

In the bottom of the fifth, Evers dropped a fly ball by McCarthy, allowing Ritter to score from second.

After six: Brooklyn 2 Chicago 0.

In the top of the second, an RBI single by Hofman put the Cubs on the board.

In the top of the ninth, the Cubs had the tying run on second but Chance grounded to third to end the game.

Six errors doomed the Cubs as neither of the Superbas runs were earned.

Final score: Brooklyn 2 Chicago 1.

In the top of the third, the Superbas got on the board first, thanks to an RBI double by McCarthy. Two walks later and the bases were loaded with one out. Alperman then brought McCarthy in with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the third, Chance stole his 50th base of the season. Schulte then tied the game with a two run single. Steinfeldt then gave the Cubs the lead with an RBI double. That put Steinfeldt's RBI total on the season at 60.

In the bottom of the sixth, Lumley kept the deficit at a single run when he threw Steinfeldt out at home after catching a Kling fly ball.

After six: Chicago 3 Brooklyn 2.

Hofman led off the bottom of the eighth with a single to extend his hitting streak to eleven games. But he would be stranded at third.

In the top of the ninth, the Superbas put the tying run on first base but McCarthy grounded to first to end the game.

In the top of the first, the Superbas loaded the bases with nobody out. Jordan hit a run scoring single. Alperman did the same to get his 30th RBI of the season. A throwing error by Evers brought two more home. Batch then brought in a pair with a single. Abbaticchio brought one in with a single. Twelve batters came to the plate in the inning with seven of them scoring. Six of them were unearned.

In the bottom of the second, Steinfeldt scored a run when Kling grounded into the 4-6-3.

In the bottom of the third, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. But Schulte grounded into the inning ending 4-6-3.

In the bottom of the fourth, a double by Kling scored two.

After six: Brooklyn 7 Chicago 3.

Sheckard drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the seventh. It was the eighth base on balls issued by Scanlan in the game, tying a National League regular season game record. Sheckard would be stranded at second.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kling connected with a two out single for his 50th hit of the season. But he would be stranded at first.

The Superbas addedone more run in the top of the ninth on an Alperman sacrifice fly.

The Cubs just never could overcome that disastrous first inning.

In the top of the first, Devlin drew his 60th walk of the season to put runners at first and second with two out. But Strang could not get the clutch hit and the Giants failed to score.

In the bottom of the first, Chance brought Sheckard home from second with a single to put his RBI total on the season at 40.

Dahlen led off the top of the second with his 20th double of the season. But he would be stranded at third.

In the top of the third, Mertes laid down his 20th sacrifice hit of the season to put a runner at second and one out. Devlin then tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Evers got a one out single to extend his hit streak to 12 games. But he would be caught stealing second.

In the top of the fourth, Pickering gave the Giants the lead when he scored on a passed ball.

In the bottom of the fourth, Hofman tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the first, a one out single extended Evers hit streak to 13 games. With runners at the corners, Schulte beat out the 4-6-3, allowing Evers to score the game's first run.

Lundgren had a no-hitter through three.

In the bottom of the third, Schulte again brought Evers home, this time with a two out triple. A Doolan error on the next play allowed Schulte to score from third. Steinfeldt then swiped second for his 30th stolen base of the season before Kling grounded out to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, the Phillies loaded the bases with nobody out on two walks and an error. Titus drew a walk to bring in the Phillies first run. Bransfield grounded to Evers and Doolan was forced at home for the first out. Magee would then be forced out at home when Gleason grounded to the pitcher and there were two away. Courtney then flew out to left to retire the side as Lundgren still had a no-hitter through six innings.

After six: Chicago 3 Philadelphia 1.

In the top of the seventh, Pittinger broke up the no-hitter with a one out single. But he would advance no further.

In the bottom of the eighth, Steinfeldt hit a run-scoring double. He would later score on a throwing error by Thomas. Pittinger would hit Moran in the knee with a pitch and he would have to leave the game. He was replaced by Bull Smith. The Cubs would go on to load the bases with two out. Evers then brought Smith home with an infield single. Chance did the same to score Lundgren. Schulte then hit a two RBI single. Steinfeldt singled to center as well but Thomas threw Chance out at home as he was trying to score from second.

Meanwhile, Lundgren, making his first start of the season, held the Phillies to just that one hit by their pitcher.

Nothing of note happened in the first three innings.

After three: Philadelphia 0 Chicago 0.

Rain began to fall in the top of the fourth.

In the top of the fifth, right after Doolan stole his 10th base of the season, the game was paused for a 66 minute rain delay. Upon restart, Beebe walked Titus to load the bases with one out. Bransfield then beat out the 5-4-3 and Thomas was able to score the game's first run.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with two out but Beebe flew out to center to end the inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Evers tied the game with an RBI double. After a pair of intentional walks, the Cubs had the bases loaded with one out. Kling then gave the Cubs the lead with an RBI single. Hofman then lined back to the pitcher for the second out. Then Moran grounded to third to end the inning.

After six: Chicago 2 Philadelphia 1.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Bob Wicker took the mound for the Cubs.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs had a runner on first with one out. Bill Duggleby took the mound for the Phillies and he got Steinfeldt to ground into the inning ending 6-4-3.

In the top of the ninth, Doolan hit an inside the park home run with a man on base to give the Phillies the lead. The top of the ninthended with Wicker striking out Titus to record his 20th K of the season.

Harry Kane took the mound for the Phillies in the bottom of the ninth. The Cubs put the tying run on second but pinch hitter Pete Noonan grounded to third to end the game.

Final score: Philadelphia 3 Chicago 2.

In the top of the first, Brain put the Beaneaters on the board with an RBI triple.

In the bottom of the first, Schulte tied the game with an RBI single. Later in the same inning, Schulte would score the go-ahead run on a throwing error by Strobel.

In the top of the second, Schulte committed his 10th error in right field and the Beaneaters had a runner on second with one out. But Brown got the next two outs and the error did not hurt the Cubs.

After three: Chicago 2 Boston 1.

In the top of the fourth, Howard stole his 10th base of the season. Strobel then tied the game with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Cubs took the lead back when Evers scored on a Young throwing error.

In the top of the fifth, a Howard sacrifice fly tied the game again.

In the bottom of the fifth, a Tenney throwing error allowed Chance to score from second and the Cubs had the lead again. Evers then scored on a passed ball.

After six: Chicago 5 Boston 3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Steinfeldt drew his 40th walk of the season. But the Cubs would strand a pair.

Brown, however, took care of the two run lead as the Beaneaters could not overcome their six error game.

Final score: Chicago 5 Boston 3.

Today is the second game in the series in Chicago between the Cubs and the Boston Beaneaters. Yesterday, the two teams combined to commit nine errors. There will be no American League games played today.

The Cubs activated CF Jimmy Slagle from the disabled list.

In the top of the fifth, Brain hit another RBI single.

Howard got an RBI single in the top of the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Cubs loaded the bases with nobody out. Schulte went down on strikes for the first out. Steinfeldt then grounded into the inning ending 6-4-3.

In the top of the ninth, the Beaneaters added another run, this time on a throwing error.

Pfeffer then finished off the complete game shutout to beat the Cubs for the third time this season.

Final score: Boston 5 Chicago 0.

In the bottom of the first, Bridwell made a huge throwing error with two out, allowing Hofman and Schulte to score. Evers then added an RBI single.

Evers got another RBI single in the bottom of the third.

In the bottom of the fifth, Evers hit his third RBI single of the game. Sheckard would later score when Slagle grounded out to second.

In the top of the first, after a Seymour single up the middle, Slagle threw Hinchman out at home as he was trying to score from second.

The bottom of the third ended with Schlei throwing out Chance as he was trying to swipe second. It was the 80th time this season Schlei caught a base stealer.

In the bottom of the fourth, Steinfeldt broke the scoreless tie with an RBI double. Two outs later, Hofman brought Steinfeldt home with a single.
