Surely this isn't working as intended.
Trading Difficulty: Easy
Trading Preference: Neutral Cincinnati(me) offers: 29 year old LF Jesse Winker - 3 Stars Overall, 3 Star Potential. 2 years left on his contract at 9.5 million per year and I'll pay 100% of that. 24 year old SP Jose Valenzuela - #1 Prospect in MLB - 2.5 Stars overall, 5 Star Potential 21 year old CF Arturo Ramirez - #2 Prospect in MLB - 3.5 Stars Overall, 5 Star Potential 19 year old SS Luke Leto - #4 Prospect in MLB - 1.5 Stars Overall, 5 Star Potential 20 year old 1B Blaze Jordan - #14 Prospect in MLB - 0.5 Stars Overall, 5 Star Potential $37 million + in cash to Toronto for: 20 year old SP Ajani Rideau - # 66 Prospect in MLB - 1.5 Stars Overall, 3.5 Star Potential Toronto's GM says: "This offer of yours is an insult." Winker has put up 11 WAR in the past 3 seasons and is just coming off a season where he hit .291/.387/.466 with 170 hits, 84 runs scored, 36 doubles, 22 homers, 101 runs batted in and had 3.8 WAR. His stats have steadily improved for each of the past 3 seasons. I started out with trading difficulty on Hard and thought this didn't even make sense there, but when I lowered it to Easy out of curiosity, I was astounded that they still weren't interested. They also won't accept the trade on Very Easy difficulty, but are a little more open saying: "I will need to think about this offer. Please submit it and I will get back to you." Which, unfortunately, we all know means they'll just wait a few days to reject it. TL;DR version: Toronto won't take a 29 year old, All-Star LF with his entire contract paid by the offering team, plus 37 million dollars in cash and the #1, #2, #4 and #14 prospects in MLB for the #66 prospect in MLB on Very Easy trading difficulty. Any thoughts? Last edited by scottk1983; 05-03-2019 at 12:27 AM. |

Teams don't always see prospects the same way you do and sometimes there are guys they just won't trade.

If there is that much difference in player evaluation between teams, something is wrong or needs to be reworked. I think, when dealing with overall MLB prospects 1-3 and 14, there would be a pretty fair consensus among all teams that those players are extremely good prospects, even if the specific rankings varied somewhat. Once you get past a certain number, I could see teams starting to branch off. Seems like MLB shouldn't have these players rated this high or other teams should have fairly close evaluations of players ranked that high. One or the other.

Do you think that the IRL Blue Jays would trade Vlad Jr. for anything? No, so just because you have IRL #6 Forrest Whitley, #7 Kyle Tucker, and #41 Yordan Alvarez in the trade to get the players. IRL Blue Jays are not taking that offer. If you want your baseball world the way you want it, drop out of challenge mode, play as the commish and force what ever trades you think are worthy.

How the heck did you have that much expendable cash and salary-room (for the retention) with the Reds?

He states Winker is 29 so it must be 4 years in the future. I believe that is the Team Option year for Votto's contract so if he declined that option he should have plenty of money freeing up. I'm doing a playthrough as the Reds. Votto had an MVP type year in 2019 then suffered a major injury early in 2020 and was a deadbeat for me until the option came up. Brutal.

Don't trade on easy you might as well put on a mask and call yourself Jesse James. And don't se it to very hard or you'll just get as frustrated as when you try to make a Best Offer on Ebay and they only go down $1. Hard works best imho.

Toronto initially offered a different prospect that I wasn't interested in for Winker, so out of curiosity, I switched that prospect for one I did like and they turned it down. Out of curiosity again, I then agreed to pay 100% of Winker's contract and they turned that down too. Fair enough I thought, so I added the #14 prospect and $5,000,000 cash. When they turned that down too my interest was really peaked, so I added the #4 prospect. Nope. So I added the #2 prospect, nope. Then I said what the hell and added all of my cash, $37,760,000. Nope. Finally, I added the #1 prospect, and sure enough, nope. That's when I went in and lowered the difficulty from Hard to Average. Nope. Dropped it from Average to Easy. Nope. Dropped it from Easy to Very Easy. Nope. That's when I made this topic. I miiiight have traded Winker, the #14 prospect and $5 million cash, but probably not if I thought about it for a while. I really wanted their guy in the draft a couple years back, but they beat me to him by 2 picks. Quote:
Exactly. I was basically offering Vlad, plus Fernando Tatis Jr., Victor Robles and Mackenzie Gore, along with $37 million in cash and Jesse Winker for Gavin Lux. Quote:

I actually don't trade on Easy, I use Hard. See my reply to Boomcoach earlier in this post for how this whole scenario came to be. I would never give up all that for the #66 prospect. |
