Athleticism Attribute
I've always found it frustrating how long it takes for a position player to learn a new position - especially if they're moving down the defensive spectrum. An elite SS that has no experience at 2B will have poor ratings at second for a relatively long time. I don't think that this mirrors real life. Let's say the Angels decided to convert Andrelton Simmons into a second baseman. He would likely be an elite defender at that position with little or no adjustment. Simmons is an incredible athlete which would allow him to adjust to any infield position on the fly. Yes, there may be a small adjustment period, but his elite athleticism gives him a high baseline.
Perhaps there could be an attribute that casts a net over certain player qualities like instincts, quickness, acceleration, etc. Let's call it "Athleticism". If a player has above average athleticism, they will have a baseline rating at certain positions that will increase with experience. This is just an oddball suggestion of mine that could potentially help further the player development engine.
