Negative Development - Where Does This Reside?
This query concerns an historic league (the PTBL) using OOTP X, but I suspect the answer is the same for subsequent versions too:
I've noticed players in historical leagues can be tagged with negative development, even when they have many good seasons of real-life stats still to come, and once this happens, however they recalc each season, before long their ratings each season will deteriorate badly. Does anyone know how/why this happens, and where in the game (OOTP X) it is being "saved" from one season to the next? (I can find nothing when I check under Editor that would indicate a development tendency for players.) |

PS - Not Age Related
The players I'm talking about have often still been in their late 20's. These are not cases of age-related negative development.

Don't know if you have the same options in a historical league (i've only ever played fictional), but under Game Settings -> Players and Facegen you should be able to turn off player development completely.

Thanks, we've opted to use a low level of development and variability. I'd like to know why certain players get hit with negative development early in their real-life careers, and since it persists season-to-season, where you can "see" who has been "tagged" for it.
BTW, I live in Australia (Bellingen, NSW). |

Orcin, yes, and that's the point really. Guys still have several seasons going forward of good real life stats, each season they recalc with great ratings, then immediately their ratings start deteriorating to miserable levels by the end of the season, then they recalc great again, and the same thing happens ...

I could be wrong but recalc and development/aging are not normally on at the same time.

You can have both active at the same time. It's useful when you don't retire players according to history.
I have no answer for the OP's problem, unfortunately. I haven't seen this in any of my leagues. |
