Aggressive Baserunning Decision Issue

I'm new to ootp, I got it this year and I'm still figuring things out. I recently have had an issue where whenever I get the decision to make an aggressive decision or not, it automatically decides to run and , and I always get out. Baserunning decisions are set to my control aswell. Please help

A bit more information could help here. I gather you are talking about pop-up decision panels during the game, that ask you whether your baserunner should attempt to advance to another base. A typical example of what I suspect you mean would be a runner on 3B with less than two outs, and a fly ball to the OF, medium depth. The pop-up will ask whether you want to send the runner home, and will also give you info on the throwing arm of the outfielder, and the speed of your runner.

A slow runner in this situation is likely to be thrown out by an OF with even an average arm. A fast runner should score on that OF. If it’s strong arm versus fast runner, probably close to 50/50. Take notice of how deep the ball is (graphics), and what the text says (sometimes there are hints, such as the OF running back who is not going to be able to get off a strong throw). Likewise a slow runner on 3B and a weak arm is close to a tie.

Other common baserunning decision points are a runner on first or second and a base hit. With two outs, the runner has an advantage, taking off on contact. Still, a slow runner risks getting gunned down by an OF with a strong arm. Less than two outs, it depends on the relative strength of the OF arm, the position of the ball, and the speed of the baserunner. I don’t send guys on base hints with less than two outs unless I am pretty sure they will make it. With two outs, they run.

You may have run into [pun intended] strong OF arms with slow runners. Or just some bad luck in a small sample. I have seen a few more OF assists in 24, but in situations that made sense. No speedsters thrown out by OF with rag arms.

Yes, you were correct to assume that is what I meant, but that is not my problem. The message pops up, asking if I want to go home or stuff in that manner, but the problem is that it does not let me choose. It pops up for a moment, then closes quickly and automatically opts to run, even though I didn't want to.

That's a bug.

Under manager, check manager settings.

Yeah, you don't always get to choose, but with the pop-up you should be able to choose. That's either a heretofore unknown bug, or a settings issue for your manager.

After the latest patch/upgrade, I don't get any pop ups at all. I did get weird ones on the first installation of the game. It would pop up before the pitch then after I made my pick, the play would continue without any hesitation. Now, no more pop ups at all. I never been asked to take the extra base or not.

When you start a game, up top, check to see if BASERUNNING or whatever it's called is set to HUMAN.

Ahh. Ok. Got it. Somehow it got changed to a (AI) Coach. That must be what it is. Thanks.

It's still not asking me, though. I thought that was the fix but I guess not.

Yes. Another update. After a few games it finally started to ask me about sending the runner. Don't know why that is. It took awhile. I even simmed through some games and then the last game I played it started to show up.
