Patch #4 Update Redux
Hi folks,
Just wanted to add a quick note here. We're still working hard to get patch #4 to you. Unfortunately, we've been delayed a bit by some additional work we needed to do that ties into our licensing systems. This has added some complexity, because we've had to wait for resources from those third parties in order to complete the patch. We're still trying to get this to you as soon as possible, but I hope you guys understand! Steve

Huh? So, this means no patch this week? Ugh!

I appreciate the update, but I hope we're not waiting on Strategy First to get their.. stuff together. If it's only some systems that are holding the release back I'm sure you've considered releasing the others that aren't.

I agree with this. If this is the situation and the e-license version is ready to go, it should be released.

Wow, talk about a huge letdown. Delayed yet again.

It has nothing to do with SF, but rather with online licensing.

That stinks. Fix what you need to and I will be happy since I do not play much on the weekends.

No big deal. I'd rather have it right.

Well, I suppose on the positive side of things this should give you the time needed to finally add in the "turns-spare-USB-port-to-beer-tap" feature I requested a while back.

Online licensing may or may not be a necessary evil (I'm not stepping into those waters...) but doing it badly is a customer nightmare.
Non OOTP content: Here is a link to licensing done very poorly: Adobe's attempt at licensing. I think you guys might enjoy what can really go wrong when licensing goes bad - just look at the number of solutions to "try" and the number of steps each involves. If you can see the comments (I can't right now for some reason) my favorite was from the user that had to buy a whole new machine just to get a project done. |

Well, yeah, but this doesn't appear to have anything to do with "getting it right" with the patch. We're just waiting for some licensing problems to get cleared. For all we know the patch is ready to go and is just sitting there. Frustrating, but whaddaya gonna do? I stopped playing OOTP after this last patch was announced, so its been awhile since I fired up the game, and now the hockey season is here. I think in the future I won't bother to pre-order but will just wait for the end-of-season sale if I decide to buy, by which time OOTP XI should be fully patched.

I'll admit I'm no techie, but it seems to me these issues should have been ironed out before now. Fixing a bug is one thing, but licensing is holding it up???
Speaking as a n00b to the game who has now been waiting two months for a final patch that was always coming "soon" before really diving into the game, this is getting rather frustrating. Last edited by LeeDorm8185; 10-01-2009 at 11:40 PM. |
