What does Historical Legend really mean?

Does it just mean some random guys best year? Or some random guys best stats? I'm confused.

Case in point...

This guy is a high school baseball coach in some k-12 school in Arizona. Now there is nothing wrong with that, and actually, honorable... but not Historical Legend.

He never pitched more than 80 innings in a season. He wasn't a postseason star since he only pitched 2 innings in the postseason in his career. I cannot find one good stat. He did make almost 5 million a season while with the Cubs. And now a HS baseball coach, hope he didn't lose all his money.

So, am I banging on him? Only because he is listed as a legend? Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb... even John McGraw (who was the card shown on that webcast), they are legends...

--

Also, Doug Rader rookie card is listed as 1972... but 1972 was like his 5-6 full season.

--

I'm just trying to understand Legends. I am thinking this card may just be an error. Is it an error?

I personally think you are overthinking it. They are cards, and it's a game. I guess I can't answer why legend cards would be scored the way they are. I can say in my heart of hearts "who cares, I see cards, I buy cards or not."

You are right. I do overthink. He may not be a REAL baseball Legend but in the GAME he is a Legend.

I see it now. There is still hope for a LEGEND Gabby Street!

Who is Gabby Street? I have to admit after baseball canceled the world series in 1994 I told them "**** you" and and didn't watch a game until last year.

Gabby Street was an early catcher and mentor for Walter Johnson, He caught a ball dropped off the Washington Monument and managed the Cardinals to a couple pennants Lost job to Frankie Frisch after slow start. After that he was the color commentator with a young Harry Carey.

Oh, and I'm related to him.

Lol MacDog I did the same thing except I still don’t watch. It’s so weird to know so much about baseball and it’s history before 1994 and know nothing about who is good now.

I know it's crazy, I couldn't name more than maybe 5 player last year. It has been fun coming back though after so many years,

The changes they made to the engine required a larger stable of high end RP's. Some guys that should probably be golds ended up as Platinum Peak cards to make the changes viable. That being said, I remember Howry being good. Check his player stats and I bet there is at least one season that would justify that even if his career wasn't all that. See also Peak Steve Howe, Foulke, etc etc.

Gabby street played in the 1900's, long before 1994. And as mentioned, caught a ball (one of 13, but Gabby claimed 2 of 13) dropped 555 ft from the Washington Monument.

I've been running a historical OOTP regular game since last year, didn't run across him, although I'm sure he was there.
