Best way to import parts of old league

This is a complicated question. I've been playing a longtime custom league over multiple versions of OOTP. It consists of real major/minor leaguers, but in my own universe. As time has gone on, it has become a pain to keep the young players coming into the league, keep photos accurate, among other things. So here is what I would like to do:

Ideally I'd like to create a new league in OOTP21, but import some expansion teams (and the minor league teams that go along with them), and certain players from my old league, along with historical data from that league.

I know you can do all of this very piecemeal, but does anyone know a better way to do this? That won't take a TON of time? It would be nice to start with a fresh game and new pics and young players, but keep the MLB structure and history from my existing league. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks all!
