Goalie Tactics?

This is something I've been thinking about recently as a way to make goalies feel more unique in the game. It'd be cool if we could have sliders such as when the goalie stops the puck, how likely is he to freeze it for the whistle or give it away to a teammate? If the puck rolls behind the net, how likely is he to risk going behind his net to play it, or does he play it more conservatively by letting his defensemen skate to it?

I'd also like to see the option of switching goalie styles. Maybe you'd want your goalie to play butterfly or stand-up depending on the team you're facing? I'd love to hear what you guys think and if it's something that could feasibly work within the game's engine.

Goalie Tactics aren't really a thing, but I don't know if it's something that's ever been considered. For the most part a goalies own strengths and weaknesses will determine that.

But the style would be impossible. Nowadays, no goalie plays Stand-up or Butterfly, everything is Hybrid. Even in the past, it still wouldn't work. Goalies played the way they played they did. The only goalie I can think of who did literally change his style and it saved his career was Chris Osgood, and he was only afforded that opportunity during the lockout - and so he did successfully.

2007 super series, in that series, Semyon Varlamov was terrible. He was then asked by the journalists why he played so bad, he replied that he was still switching from standup to butterfly style.
