Demote player on rehab to AAA

I have a player on the 40-man roster who is near the end of his rehab assignment. He has an option remaining. I want to option/assign the player to AAA but the game will not let me do it without placing him on waivers first. Why can't I designate him for assignment in order to activate him and then send him to AAA? As it stands, I must either (a) risk losing the player on waivers or (b) burn an option on someone else in order to activate him.

This is a known issue and I believe there will be a fix in the next patch.

I don't think this is the same issue as your bug report. This is not an AI team. It is my player.

This problem has been around for many versions/years. I gave up complainging about if.

The only fix I have found is to demote a player who has used up an option this year. Then place your IR guy on the active roster. Next demote him to AAA. Now return rhe player you just demoted--he is in an option year so no harm done.

If you do this immediately -- in essence on one day--you will be good to go.

For "broken" stuff like this I always keep a Manager as Commissioner mode and "cheat" to make the changes needed.

You are right…but this was definitely on my list and it does need to be addressed. I’m hoping that when Matt said he found the screwy IL logic that this might be part of it.
