Nike needs to go back to doing what it does best--buy football players for the University of Oregon. They were actually pretty good at that. I'll never forget the time Oregon signed the Tejas High School Player of the Year. I kept wondering how much Nike paid that kid to go to Oregon. Then he transferred to Baylor after a year. That made me wonder how much Baylor paid him to transfer there.

It's all dirty. That's why the NCAA needs to just give up. I laugh at my fellow UNC fans who are waiting for the smoking gun on Zion WIlliamson to land in koach k's hands. As if UNC ain't as knee deep in it as the dookies. Just get rid of the rules & let 'em have at it.

I've stopped watching college sports, the NCAA makes the IOC and FIFA look like squeaky clean organizations. The last straw was an interview that Arian Foster did where he stated that his coaches at Tennessee would not allow him to take certain classes he wanted to take because it interfered with football, along with other shady stuff. But of course, they're very proud of the "student-athletes" they develop. No thanks, I'll watch the ones that are good in the NBA and NFL and find something else to do with my fall Saturdays and in March.

At Tennessee, what they do is bring the freshmen signees in over the summer and give them placement tests. The ones who score well are placed in the main academic curriculum of the university with all the regular students. The ones who don't (which is most of them) are placed in what's known as General Studies where they take crip courses to stay academically eligible for athletics. Most don't even come close to getting a degree. All this info courtesy of an acquaintance of mine whose son was a walk-on football player at Tennessee. This kid scored well on his placement test and graduated after four years. Never played a down of football at UT though.

BTW, lest anyone think I'm picking on Tennessee, almost every other major football playing university has some sort of "General Studies" program similar to what goes on at Tennessee. They ain't the Lone Ranger.
