Mac OS Catalina

Any words of wisdom regarding compatibility?

Not an expert but I wouldn't expect there to be any problems; the apps that will be affected by the changeover are 32-bit applications, and OOTP is 64-bit.

Word to the wise: DON'T go to Catalina until the Team says the game supports it. Took me an hour to regret it, and I'll be 3-4 days recovering my system.

Are you on the beta release program? Catalina isn't due for official public release until October.

Good advice, though. I do worry about some programs and whether they will be upgraded to 64-bit.

I tried installing the beta (yes, direct from Apple—I signed up) and downgraded quickly. OOTP crashed on exit, many of my other programs wouldn't work at all...but my trusty Apple II emulator survived! God bless 8-bit programming.

I've lost several days and my system still isn't back. Couldn't even time machine it back to Mojave, had to copy off my data, wipe the disk, and start over. On the other hand, upgraded my iPhone to iOS 13 yesterday and in under an hour was back in the real world like nothing happened.

Bottom line: Catalina has a long way to go, and the development community is not keeping up. In defense of our great team, OOTP ran well. The crash was on exit, and no data was lost. On the good side, I think when it's market ready, Catalina is a great upgrade.

I’ve learned to always be an OS behind when it comes to Mac. I am a music creator so I learned my lesson the hard way lol.

Different strokes, I guess. Mojave was an utterly painless transition. I think it works like the Star Trek movies...the even numbered ones are great—the odd numbered...watch your ***.

Isn't it sum of the digits now? Or are we counting Galaxy Quest?
