A little note about my hopes with this dynasty thread:
I'm a very realistic type of OOTP player. For starters, you won't find me trade raping the computer. I also will not go crazy with waiver claims or rule 5 selections. I also use a real life rule which prohibits the trading of any recently signed player or free agent until the June 15th date (excluding MiLB deals). I've been following @bringerofrain20's Yankees dynasty reporting on here and I hope to follow a similar format. I really like the way he presents his.

Let's get started!

2019 Braves Season Preview

The Atlanta Braves are coming off a 2018 season which caught many in the media and around the baseball world by surprise. Fresh off a 2018 National League East Division Title, the Braves were knocked out of the Divisional Round in four games by the powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers. With many of the teams younger players having garnered much needed postseason experience, Alex Anthopoulos has made a plethora of moves to hopefully help his club make the leap. Once again led by manager Brian Snitker, the Braves lineup will now feature Josh Donaldson at third base and in the middle of their order. Donaldson was brought in on a one year 'prove it' deal for 23 million, but Anthopoulos knows what he is getting with 'The Bringer of Rain'. In addition to Donaldson, the Braves have added Dallas Keuchel to the front of their rotation. All in all, Liberty Media, the Braves owners, are expecting another winning season in Atlanta.

March/April Recap
"Downturn over the month's final week and a half sees Braves trailing the Nationals and Phillies by 3.5 games at months end"

The Braves start to the 2019 season was just what they had wished for, taking two of three in Philadelphia against a Phillies team that many expect to compete for the division title after landing Bryce Harper and trading for J.T. Realmuto during this past offseason.

However, the Braves closed the month out on a 3-8 stretch, including a sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Indians, to finish the month at 15-15.

Despite the offense being top five in most categories in the National League, the Braves bullpen was often the culprit for the team's misfortunes during the month of April. The pen tallied a 4.76 ERA, ranking 14th amongst National League teams.

Transactions
- The Braves came to an agreement with relief pitcher Wily Peralta on a minor league contract after he was released by the Kansas City Royals. He will report to AAA Gwinnett.
- Mike Foltynewicz and reliever A.J. Minter have both started rehab assignments with Gwinnett. Foltynewicz is thought to be a few weeks away still while Minter could arrive in Atlanta soon.

Around MLB
- The Washington Nationals signed third basemen Anthony Rendon to a 7 year, 241 million dollar contract.
- The Baltimore Orioles traded starting pitcher Nate Karns to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for catcher Russell Martin.

May Recap
"Braves slide continues, team drops to 6 games under .500"

The Braves slide to end the month of April only got worse as we worked our way through the month of May as the Braves concluded the month with an 11-17 record. Among the lows during May were the Braves being swept in Miami and again in San Francisco over a four game set. To make matters worse, Atlanta lost two different starting pitchers for the year.

Julio Teheran was injured during his start on May 23rd in San Francisco. Julio will have surgery to remove bone chips in his right elbow and will miss 8 months. After making four extremely impressive rehab starts in AAA Gwinnett, Mike Foltynewicz returned to Atlanta with a rather unimpressive debut in San Francisco that saw him only last three innings while surrendering six hits and allowing eight runs, all earned, walking four and striking out only one. Folty's second start, unfortunately, had a much worse result. He tore his UCL during the third inning of his start in St. Louis and will miss 11 months.

Teheran's final stats for 2019: 11 GS 4-5 5.46 ERA 64.1 IP 6.0 K/9 4.1 BB/9 0.1 WAR 0.4 rWAR

Foltynewicz's final stats for 2019: 2 GS 0-2 21.94 ERA 5.1 IP 6.8 K/9 8.4 BB/9 -0.4 WAR -0.7 rWAR

The Braves also saw catcher Brian McCann miss two weeks during the month of May with a fractured foot and shortstop Dansby Swanson miss three weeks with an intercostal strain. Both players have since returned to the Braves.

Transactions
- Josh Tomlin was optioned to Gwinnett to make room for A.J. Minter to be recalled to Atlanta.
- Minor league catcher Hagen Owenby was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for catcher John Ryan Murphy. The Diamondbacks retained 15% of Murphy's contract. Murphy was optioned to AAA Gwinnett and will provide much needed depth.
- Sean Newcomb has been optioned to AAA Gwinnett after struggling at the Major League level with walks.

Around MLB
- The Chicago White Sox have traded relief pitcher Alex Colome to the San Diego Padres in exchange for minor leaguer Trent Shelton.
- Anthony Rendon, weeks after signing a big contract extension, has a torn calf muscle and is expected to miss another 4-5 months.
- C.C. Sabathia was released by the New York Yankees and has signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers.
- The Boston Red Sox have signed utility player Brock Holt to a three year $40 million dollar contract extension.
- The Houston Astros have signed pitcher Brad Peacock to a three year $20.48 million dollar contract extension.

2019 MLB Amateur Draft
"Braves take college catcher at #9, college infielder at #21"

The 2019 MLB Amateur Draft concluded today as the Atlanta Braves nabbed Baylor University catcher Shea Langeliers with the 9th overall selection in this years draft. Shortly after, the Braves selected Texas A&M second basemen Braden Shewmake with the 21st overall pick.

The Baltimore Orioles made Korey Lee the number one selection in the draft this year. Lee, a catcher out of the University of California, is expected to be on the fast track to a Baltimore team that is desperate for help at the Major League level. The Kansas City Royals selected second basemen Cameron Cannon second overall while the Chicago White Sox took third basemen Bobby Witt Jr. at number three.

June Recap
"Braves go 16-12 during month of June to creep back into race"

Dallas Keuchel made his Braves debut in early June and wound up going 3-1 in four starts. Keuchel provided much needed innings from the starting rotation, averaging seven innings pitched across his four starts. Freddie Freeman, Josh Donaldson, and Ozzie Albies all continued to make their bid for the upcoming All Star Game in Cleveland.

While the month of May was not kind to the Braves in terms of injuries, June was the exact opposite. Mike Soroka has dealt with a bit of a dead arm of late and was placed on the Injured List.

Kyle Wright was called up in early June and has since stuck in the big league rotation. Wright went 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA over five June starts and helped to steady the ailing Atlanta rotation after losing Teheran and Foltynewicz for the year.

Around MLB
- The Philadelphia Phillies signed catcher J.T. Realmuto to a five year $94.2 million dollar contract extension.
- The San Diego Padres traded away star closer Kirby Yates to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor leaguers David Rodriguez and Wilson D. Garcia.
- The Boston Red Sox acquired first basemen Yonder Alonso from the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Kutter Crawford and Daniel Jose Gonzalez.
- The Padres continued selling off pieces by sending Craig Stammen to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for Jeikol Contreras and Samuel Vasquez.
- The Boston Red Sox extended starting pitcher Rick Porcello with a five year $113.8 million dollar contract.
- The Pittsburgh Pirates and Arizona Diamondbacks swapped veterans David Peralta and Francisco Cervelli.
