First go to the folder where your FHM3 is installed. Then right click on the FHM3.exe file. You'll find there's an option to 'Create Shortcut'. Click on that.

The computer will then generate a file named something like 'fhm3.exe - Shortcut'

Right click on that file, then select 'Properties'. A little box will pop up. The box will have a box called Target:

In that box will be something that looks like this: "D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\fhm3.exe"

It won't be exactly the same since you aren't using the Steam version, but it'll still be the path to your install and end in fhm3.exe"

Immediately after the quotation marks enter the following: tracemode usedesktopopengl (make sure to include the space at the start)

Now the line should look like this:
D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Franchise Hockey Manager 3\fhm3.exe tracemode usedesktopopengl

Close the properties box and try starting FHM using the new shortcut that you just created and modified.

It should work for you. You'll need to start the game each time in the future using the same shortcut. If it helps you can always create a shortcut to the shortcut on your desktop or start menu, or wherever it's easiest for you to access.

Let us know if that works for you!

Thanks - I added that to the shortcut but it still won't allow me to add the facegen. Any chance it will change with the official version being uploaded today? I am wondering if there is any way around this issue?

No, it has to be outside the quotes. Sorry if I explained that badly.

Inside the quotes and Windows won't even let you close the properties box as it generates an error.

So...What was changed from FHM 2 to FHM 3 to cause the Facegen problem in FHM 3?. Facegen works fine in FHM 2

If we knew that we'd know how to fix the problem! Both facegen and opengl are third party software.

I think we adapt facegen a bit, but the majority of what's needed to run facegen isn't anything OOTP codes, it all comes from other sources.

It's a Halloween miracle. I just uploaded the official version that was just posted and the facegen loaded with no problems at all. Thanks for all your hard work fixing the issue!!!

There is a hockey god....We have facegen . Just added tracemode usedesktopopengl in the target line & it works ....Big thanks to lukasberger, Andreas & the rest of the FHM Team.

So, usedesktopopengl made it work? That's funny because according to the Qt documentation it should be the default setting anyway

Please remove the tracemode again. This parameter is only needed when you want to create a debug log file and it slows down the game a lot.

okay, I removed the tracemode and facegen did not work. As of now, facegen only works when I have tracemode on
