A worthy successor emerges
A team in my league has finally come up with a fitting rookie replacement for their veteran first baseman. Both nicknames are from OOTP.

It would be even funnier if the coach were Bobby Cox.

I tore P-shin-yo?
Yeah, don't even try. Guys might come after you. In my dynasty there are two players named Bastyao Caixinha and Bakile Hiwalani, which I am glad are not on my team for exactly that reason.

We got a Lazzaro Fonzarelli leading just about everything in our online league.

If his production declines in later years, you can always say he jumped the shark.

One of the active career home run leaders in my league, and probable future hall of famer, is an outfielder named Flint Steele. Not funny, but a pretty cool name. Ironically, he is "fragile."
The current active career HR leader is a guy named Pedro Serrano. I guess he finally figured out how to hit the curveball.

I know this is not a funny name, but I do wonder whether this headline would have gotten the same ... ahem ... titters in England in 1923 as it would in America today?

I normally turn nicknames off now that we have that option, but left them on for my new fictional league. Promptly found this gem, who was the top pick in the first draft.

I'll be honest. I want this guy. I think this would be good for me and honestly I'm a bit desperate, but I'm afraid to ask. I mean, it could be awkward, and I wouldn't want to hurt our friendship, plus I might have to give up more than I'm comfortable with, and let's face it, stamina isn't everything and it could end up being a really terrible move for everyone concerned. |

Sasha Pahtanov, starter in an European league. Makes you wonder if his parents lost a bet or something.
