1946-1960. The offense was not turbo-charged with steroids, pitchers had better endurance, and there was more small ball. It's not that far off from today's game though.

If you're thinking of joining, there's still time, even past the start time!
The Initial Draft: The league's initial draft will start tomorrow, Saturday, the 13th, at noon EST, as previously planned. I will send out the first e-mail to everyone at the start time with a list of everyone in order. The first person will "reply to all", copy the text from my e-mail and paste it into their e-mail (so as not to clutter it up with >'s and non-pick text from others), type in the player's position and name that they want, and then send it. Each person afterwards will do the same, but using the last person's e-mail instead of mine. I was hoping to conduct the draft by BOSI, but BOSI does not yet work on PowWeb, so we will go with the above. The 1st 2 rounds will be 24 hours per pick. If you take longer than that, then we (Eric or myself) will have the computer pick for you. Please send in a draft list (e-mail Eric and I at kq76@hotmail.com and erickneipfer@yahoo.com) or make your pick as soon as possible though as some people get annoyed with people who take their full time. After the 1st 2 rounds we'll reconsider the allotted time per pick (I'm currently thinking 12 hours). The draft order is: Henry Jon Adam Jay Jeff Wa. Michael J. Alan Frank Eric Jesse Dan Jeff Wi. Kieran Andrew Chris Michael T. Nick AI 1 AI 2 AI 3 AI 4 AI 5 AI 6 AI 7 If anyone would prefer to be dropped down in the draft order so they don't have to pick right away, then please e-mail me so I can make the change. The order is serpentine, as in 1st overall also picks last in the 2nd rd, so it does not matter much where you pick. As you can see, we do not have the 24 people that we were hoping for. So what we are going to do is... All the humans will draft first and the computer will draft the other teams last. As we go along, we'll probably pick up some other people and they can have their choice of any of the computer teams and they will pick up the drafting. If we don't end up with at least 23 people by the end of the draft, we'll contract enough teams to get an even # of teams. We'll then just delete those players from the contracted teams. So say we we end up with 19 (odd #), we'll contract 4 and have 1 open. If we end with 22 (even #), we'll contract 2 teams. After each season we will consider adding an even # of teams. |

KBL - Adopt A Team So We Don't Have To Contract
EDIT: See the update with my latest post below.
We're currently in the middle of the 1st round of the initial draft. We have 17 teams filled, with 7 available. The plan is that once we are finished the draft, if all teams are not filled, an even # of them will be contracted and those players will be deleted. I'd really hate to do this as our league's players are already taking on personalities in our communication. If you'd like to adopt a team and still get to pick all or most of your players, please do the following: From the "Info" page on the website (www.simrc.net/kbl/), go to the "How To Apply" section, copy and paste the application questions (Name, E-Mail Address, etc) into an e-mail answer them, and send it to both: erickneipfer@yahoo.com AND kq76@hotmail.com. If you want to be able to make your first round pick, you'll need to make sure you e-mail Eric asap and he will set you up. After that you can still adopt any one of the available 7 teams, but the 1st 2 round picks will probably be made already. More Information: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...threadid=48597 The picks so far are: 1) Anansi Spiders - CF - Jabiri "Tornado" Sukutai 2) Amada Silverbacks - CF - Nkuku Najya 3) Zulu Hartebeests - 3B - Manu "Money" Marashi 4) ? ? - SP - Nabhani Hobo 5) Mwari Okapis - SP - Siwazuri "Superman" Maliwaza 6) Kilimanjaro Leopards - SP - Jaja Nafula 7) Khufu Cheetahs - 1B - Murtada Wanjiru 8) Mansa Musa Nyameras - SS - Sarahani Njeri 9) Songhai Wild Dogs - SP - Abu Mafunda 10) Sobek Crocodiles - SP - Thani "Thrash" Ashuru 11) Odua Elephants - SP - Muthomi Johari 12) Ju/'hoan Duikers - SP - Zalika Masika 13) Taharqa Tigers - 2B - Kojo Jali Thanks!

We're into the second round now and only have 3 open spots left. The first two rounds of picks for the open spots have been made by the game, but you can have your choice from those. First come, first serve, so get your team soon before it's too late. See above post for how to apply.

If anyone received OOTP5 as a Christmas present and is looking to join a league, we still have 3 spots open. We've postponed the draft clock during the Christmas break (until the 29th), so you'll still be able to make your 3rd rd picks. Information on how to join is in the first post.

Giving this a bump. The league has been great so far. The teams listed in the post above are still available and we're looking for some active owners to take them over.
This is a really unique fictional league with great owners. If you're interested, follow the directions on the first page. Hope to hear from you soon! |

I also think your league is a great idea... i do not have the time right now to join though i started upHeroes of Yesteryear which is taking up a lot of time and i have had to drop leagues so i can do that so i think it would be unfair to even apply when i don't think i could handle it... great look though guys

Already sent you an email, but I just wanted to make my interest official ... and I want to make enough posts to get rid of that "Bat boy" designation.

For those who want to compete right away some of these teams drafted really well. The others would be fun to make better in the long term.

I just wanted to add to Jesse's post that the reason why we had 3 teams open up was because we have a policy of opening up teams after 5 sims of no exports and no contact and that was our 5th sim. (EDIT: We might change this after some discussion in our forum.) For the most part however, everyone seems to be quite active in the league as evidenced by our export record and communication. I'm sure we'll have a team open up every now and again, but I suspect that the remaining owners will be steadily active in some form or another. Over time I'm sure we'll attract more and more steadily active members until it will be rare that we'll have an opening.
The teams in the above post are currently still open.
