This is a joke, right??

Can't believe this many steps are necessary just to set up a simple World Series matchup. I understand some steps are optional and you'll want to edit the rosters to match real life, etc. -- but you would think with everything else the game can do, you could just pick your two teams and go. The game really needs some sort of streamlined "post-season mode" to limit the number of steps.

Anyhow, thanks for laying it all out for us.

I know it looks like a lot of work. Except for Steps 15 and 17, it is not.

I think I discovered a "work around" for the one problem. It'll also make Step 15 a little bit easier. I'll update the instructions in a bit.

Super game. Especially considering the outcome!!

Boxscore looks great. Can't wait to get this jewel.

Just did a replay of game 3 of the White Sox 2005 World Series game. We lost 3-1 but it was a nailbiter and in many ways similar to the real life game.

OOTP V11 is a great immersive baseball game!!

The quickstart is available at Padresfan's site. (Thank you, Padresfan!) It's my first-ever mod. And I dedicate it to my friend Jack Kelley.

That was kind of you Paul. I'm grateful to be playing OOTP V11 in my baseball hobby because of your help these past 3 years since v9. Without your help in V9 and V10 I might not have given V11 a try.

DL the 59 mod. But it's late and I need to study so I'll have something extra to look forward to tomorrow!

Your work is very much appreciated. I just hope there are many other WSox/Dodger fans that grab your mod.

Baseball...it's so great...it's even in the Bible...even the first verse...well it's even in the first 3 words...IN THE BIG INNING...

Have a good night everyone...my evening was splendid indeed!!

Just had to say that Paul's 1959 World Series quickstart is FANTASTIC!!

Lineups are already set...rosters are perfect. All I had to do was change some stadium pics and install a few extra player pics.

Played the first game of the 59 World Series last night...pitch by pitch (best way for real baseball) and it was a super game. My White Sox lost 7-6 but it was an exciting game anyway. Couldn't get anymore realistic except my WSox could have won.

And thanks Paul Strickert for all the precise steps because I'll be doing 2005 and the playoffs of 1983...1993...2003...etc etc.

OOTP IS A GREAT BASEBALL SIM...

Can't believe it's been almost a year since my last post here in this thread. Anyway I ended up never creating any WSox World Series quickstarts as per Paul's instructions. It was mainly because I only play pitch by pitch (unless it's a total blowout) and OOTP doesn't have a save game in progress feature.

It's my understanding that V12 will have that ability. Well...I'm been back into playing OOTP11 the past few weeks. As I said earlier in my posts here the game plays great. I'm going ahead with simming out a few innings when my time is short. Don't like it but I've decided I need to do it because I need to get into this game and learn the intricacies (sp?) better before getting V12.

This game has all the potential of being simply fantastic. Especially if indeed V12 has historical lineups/transactions and a 'save game in progress' feature. So I'm working on learning about player ratings etc. I just wish you could go in and remove a pitcher's tiredness after playing some exhibition games. Those are the kind I play now if my time is extra short.

Just wanted to give an update to this thread from a year ago. It's amazing to me that in one year there doesn't appear to be several people interested in just replaying a World Series. It's a lot of fun and it's real baseball without having to spend weeks and months playing out a full season. That's great too but World Series replays obviously are shorter and just as great to play.

I'm going to try to figure out how to maybe expand Paul's World Series replay setups to include the full playoff/World Series games. Would be nice to start the full playoffs from 2005 when my WSox took the crown. : )

This work along with other baseball sims I play will fill my gaming time while anxiously waiting for V12.
