There's a lot, to be sure, but there is still plenty missing. Plenty of leagues are missing their final standings, particularly the first and half standings for leagues using the split-season. Most are missing playoff results.

Team statistics are well represented. (Except for attendance, it seems, which has not been included so far. Guess that one will be up to me.) Several categories of player statistics are missing. mostly in earlier years, depending on the league and year. In some cases you'll only find the most basic of individual player statistics.

In any case, one can read more about SABR's minor league project here. It gives some background into how the stats are being cross-checked for accuracy. On this page you can find the list of leagues completed so far and whether their status is 'balanced' or 'proofed'. One can even volunteer to help the project along if one is so inclined.

One major point to note is that, unlike with major league players, there is no equivalent to a Lahman-style unique identification for each player. If for example you have a "Bill Jones" playing in Class D, Class B, and Class AAA in 1951, it's entirely unclear if they're all the same person or if it's two or three different "Bill Jones". Given the vast number of players who have played in the minor leagues over its history, figuring out all the unique players would be a monumental task.

It's the first, major step toward eventually being able to recreate a world that include historical MiLB players as well as MLB guys. Without it, that will never happen. With it, it's just a matter of time.
Exactly. We may not build the city, but we can damn sure lay out the street grid.

According to OOTP itself, OOTP MLB play (modern and historical) outnumbers OOTP fictional play three to one.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

It's just that there are a hell of a lot of streets.

Either way, it'd have to start somewhere and that's probably with a db of minor league teams.
If a database existed with minor league players and their stats I see no reason why the game couldn't use recalc. What I do question is how the game would translate these numbers so a historical league isn't overrun with guys that had nice minor league numbers, but no major league career whatsoever. Would the game need another "make bad" setting that hammers guys that don't have actual MLB stats? Mike Hessman is a player that comes to mind when I think about this. He was a complete failure at the big league level, but has 417 minor league home runs. Brandon Wood is another guy that comes to mind. Look at his minor league numbers and then how utterly horrible he is at the MLB level.

But, in the end, as long as something like this remains 100% optional, I thinks it's a cool idea. I doubt I would ever use it, but I see why other would love it.
