Le Morne Rouge at Paris
The Toucans travel to Paris without much hope of making the post-season as they are mired in 3rd place in the Martinique standings, and 8 games behind the WC.
Game 1 Dave Coronado (17-4) is superb leading Paris to a 3-1 win as he allowed just 5 hits and 1 run. Julien Henri hit his 18th HR giving him his career best. Gallant the save. Game 2 Another tight game that was decided in the bottom of the 9th when Roger Lamy singled home the winning run. Paris wins, 2-1, and Dupin with 2.1 solid innings of relief work replacing Merlin, gets the win. Game 3 With Julien Henri on the mound, the Paris Artists scored first in the second inning but then wasted several opportunities to score with a runner at 3rd and less than 2 outs. The Toucans made them pay as they chipped away for a pair of runs and that was good enough as Le Morne Rouge salvages the final game, 2-1. Julien went 8 innings and went 1 for 4. So, the 5 game winning streak ends and the Artists will prepare to fly to Martinique to take on the Cap Chevalier Waves, a team tied for the worst record (46-80) with the Giverny Herons. The Waves, have been to the post season in 6 of 12 seasons while winning the title 4 times. But they have both the highest ERA and lowest B.A. in team history. Stat Note: The All time record for losses is 19, set by Alexandre Perrault in 1962 while pitching for Paris. Martial Imbert, a career 90-69 pitcher has 18 losses with at least 2 starts and maybe 3 left on the schedule.

Most Valuable Pitcher Candidates
There is a strong field of pitchers having dominant seasons in the FBL, always known as a pitching league.
Julien Henri has the lowest F.I.P. in the league.

Paris at Cap Chevalier
The team with the best record traveled to Cap Chevalier to play the Waves, the team with the worst record.
Game 1 The Artists lead 7-1 in the middle innings but the 'never say die' Waves kept chipping away until they tied it at 7, Finally, in the 11th Fauvre rips a single and Cap Chevalier has a walk off win by a score of 8-7. Game 2 At 1-1, Paris scores a run in the top of the 9th. The Waves answer with their own single tally in the bottom half. Paris puts up a two spot in the top of the 10th and barely hang on as the Waves score a run and threaten in the bottom half. Final, Artists win it 4-3 on 11 hits. Gallant the Win after blowing the save. Game 3 Dave Coronado went 7 innings giving up 2 runs and Julien Henri had hits his first 3 times up including a first inning triple, as Paris took a 2 run lead into the 9th. Five straight singles and a SF and just like that Waves earned their second walk off of the series. Cap Chevalier delights their fans by winning 2 of 3 from Paris.

No Hitter
One of a handful of non-French ball players, Harumi Ichikawa gave it every thing he had to complete his no-no, to the point that he had to put on the DL following the game.
Harumi gave up one walk on a 3-1 pitch in the 5th inning. The Orchids turned a DP to clear off the base paths. After that, all outs. Just 27 batters faced for the 32 year old from Morioka. The W broke a string of 4 straight defeats for Ichikawa.

Marseille at Paris
The Soleis travel north, and east, to Paris in hopes of gaining ground in the fight for the only WC spot. It's coming down to the Anse d'Arlet Sting Rays, Nice Orchids, and the Soleis.
Game 1 Denis Merlin went 8 IP and got hits from all the players in the line-up including himself, excepting the Catcher Garcia, as the Artists won 6-2. Merlin gave up a single run, 0 walks, and he induced 8 whiffs. Herve DeLage had the only extra base hit, a double. Henri received the day off. Game 2 Three different Soleis pitchers limited Paris to just 4 hits and 2 runs. But, there were two problems for Marseille: 1) Roger Lamy had one of the hits, a 2 run homer. 2) Julien Henri was on the mound limiting the Soleis to 1 run on 5 hits. Henri ran out of gas with one out to go and Carlier came on for the save, his second of the season. Game 3 The Soleis looked like they were going to dispose of Paris SP John Huchet before he could get out of the first inning, and they almost did. Huchet was scored upon 3 times before he retired the side. Another Roger Lamy 2 run homer started the comeback leading up to Paris scoring one in the 7th and three in the 8th en route to the 6-4 win. Gallet notches his 28th save tying him with Garcia of Nice. Vincent Garcia is just 22 yrs old, but was selected as the 3rd pick overall just last year. He went directly from one of the French colleges to the top level. Paris sweeps the Soleis putting a serious dent in their post-season hopes.

End of the Regular Season
The Paris Artists finished with the best overall record in the French Baseball League, winning 96 and losing 42. On their way to their all time best win total, Julien Henri had a stellar season. He reached 20 homers for the first time, led the league with 91 RBI's, and almost overtook Laurant Mercier for the batting title, closing within a couple of points in the final week.
On the mound, Julien had his all time lowest WHIP, 0.96. He was struggling with a less than .500 mark for the first third of the season, and then he hit the gas and there was little batters could do against him. Henri notched 6.3 WAR while on the mound. For the first time his batter WAR of 6.8 topped his pitching. All told, 13.1 WAR is an amazing stat. I'm going to guess that he will never top these collective numbers, again. But, would not be surprised if he did. Fares Pere, in his first full season, hit the coveted 30 HR mark going yard on Sept. 1, second from the last day of the season. As noted above, Mercier, 3x MVP, led the league in batting. Herve Villiard, with 22 wins, led the league in that category. This was the first season Herve won more than he lost. For the 6th year in a row Cole Burke led the league in K's, with 216. Richard Maze, of Anse d'Arlet, let the league in ERA with a 2.07 mark, edging out the K King by .01.

Paris sweeps Nice in the first round
The Nice Orchids were the only team to have a winning record against Paris during the regular season, a rather impressive 8-4 going head to head with the best team.
Unfortunately, for the Orchid faithful, it didn't carry through to the post-season. The Artists made short order of the Orchids sweeping them in the 4 game set. Paris waits to see who they will play next Surprising, the Snake Eyes are up 3-1 to Le Diamant in spite of losing the opener, 4-3.

Snake Eyes at Diamonds
Quebec has squandered a 3-1 edge in the series as Vic Cosman shut them out in game 5 in Quebec, then Le Diamant overcame a 2-0 deficit to win 3-2 in Martinique.
It's game 7 time and the winner will face the Artists.

Game 7 Quebec at Le Diamant
A thrilling series ends with the Diamonds overcoming an early 1-0 lead in the middle innings while using effective pitching to silence the Snake Eye bats.
Le Diamant rallies from a 3-1 deficit in games to take the final 3 qualifying them for the Championship Series against the Paris Artists. Many followers of the league are delighted to see the two best teams square off. Le Diamant would like nothing better than to turn the tables on the Artists who feature 4 prominent former Diamonds in their line up. The teams match up evenly with Paris taking the odd game for year giving them an 8 to 7 edge in the fifteen played.

Game 2 Le Diamant at Paris
Sanchez, an SP who doesn't get a lot of press, was on his game taking advantage of his pinpoint control. 0 Walks and 5 K's for 7.2 IP. Lamotte, after giving up a lead off double in the 9th, got Henri, Lamy, and DeLage in order. Julien went 0 for 4. Series tied.

Game 3 Paris at Le Diamant
The Artist offense hit the ignition switch in the middle innings to take control of the game while seizing back the home field advantage. Gallant had to be called on with the bases juiced, 0 outs in the 9th, so he earned the save.

Paris at Le Diamant
Game 5 was a thriller from start to finish. The Artists were threatening to score at virtually every inning, but veteran Vic Cosman always knew when to tighten the screws.
When Kobashyi singled in a run, combined with Herve DeLage's solo shot, it looked like that was all that SP Julien Henri would need to close it out. With a low pitch count, he was in command. Frederick Legendre launched a 2 run homer in the 8th and just like that we had a new ball game. With a man on first in the bottom of the 9th, Gracia sent a ball into the right field corner. The play at the plate was not close. The Diamonds have won 3 straight and are on the verge of upsetting one of the best teams in FBL history. We had back to Paris for game six.

Game 6 Le Diamant at Paris
The Diamonds have the chance to wrap up their 4th title, tying them with the Cap Chevalier Waves for that distinction. It's been about pitching, and pitching in the clutch, for the first 6 games. Here is the Game 6 story

We have a Champion!
The Le Diamant Diamonds, the former team of Mercier, Henri, DeLage, and Michel won the final road game of the series as Robert Bour and a strong bullpen handcuffed the Artists bats on their way to a 3-1 win.
For Le Diamant, it is their 4th title tying them with the Cap Chevalier Waves for the most championships. Eight out of the thirteen titles belong to the island of Martinique. For Paris, a tough loss coming off an amazing season. Their quest for back to back titles thwarted by a team that knows how to pitch. Their season long 2.64 ERA was best in the league. Catcher, Frederik Legendre gets the MVP award for Le Diamant. Once one of the most highly rated prospects in the league, his talent never quite developed, and even took a step back in recent years. However, it is the 2nd Post Season MVP award for Legendre.
