**** Important news for OLS hosted sites ****

Dear commisioners of online leagues hosted on the OOTP Developments League Server,

During the last weeks we have had some trouble on the OLS due to scripts, which have been developed or just edited by commissioners and didn't work correctly. Also we had a lot of problems caused by files with the wrong Unix file system permissions set, incorrectly configured forums, huge up- and downloads and so on.

Well, we know that all of this happened without bad intentions. But it seems to be a fact that some of the commisioners don't have webmaster skills. But this is obviously necessary to manage a site on the OLS!

We have been thinking about how to solve this problem, and found the following solution:

Each commisioner has to visit at least 20 hours webmaster training, and has to prove his skills by sending us the certification of the training and he has to pass a little online test which we will implement. If a commisioner doesn't fulfil this rule until 4/1/2005 his OLS site will be closed.

Glad I'm not on the OOTP server. I could probably pass the test without the training, it's the certificate I wouldn't want to have to get.

Actually the commishs are doing a great job. The OLS runs well and without crashes! And most of the sites are looking absolutely great!

Andreas is such a softie. He should have kept the joke going all day with ominous (anonymous) listings of bad users and how he is "just about to delete all the improper or incorrectly configured files", leaving it generic enough that EVERY commish thinks he might be the one in question.

Well, I guess you're right, after the first two posts I had the idea that some guys could start to order web space elsewhere, and that would probably cause them costs, and so I thought to myself "better being a softie than having trouble just for a joke"
