Too easy to get rid of bad contracts?
I have the impression that it is pretty easy to get rid of albatross contracts, like no matter how bad the contract is, no matter if the player has a no move clause, almost all guys that I put on the TB eventually will receive an toffer.
From time to time it will even be a very decent prospect for an aging and declining vet with like 4 more years on his deal. For example in year two I got Adam Boquist for Lucic or also in year 2 I got 3.5 star talent Grant Mishmash for 1.5 star Danny Dekeyser, talking about Detroit, it took me 1.5 years to get rid of ALL their bad deals. Just by putting the guys on the TB and waiting. Idk what you guys think but I feel this could toned down a bit. |

Now in the 3rd year with Detroit and I'm the big favorite to win the stanley cup, just cos I accumulated a decent prospect pool and could sign pretty much all big UFAs available. And that just had the cap space to do so cos I could get rid of each and every unfavorable contracts (many with no movement clauses).
In my opinion this just makes it too easy to turn franchises around, at the same time it is low risk to sign older UFA's to longer contracts, somebody will just pick eventually them up even if they are declining. |
