Question on balancing stats

If I wanted to run a league starting in say 1984 and I wanted to avoid the bloated stats of the steroid era, how would I do that? Basically I want the stats to stay similar to the 1980s forever.

It seems every time I set a year for stats and modifiers it just changes at the end of the season. How do I get it to stay the same, year after year?

Any help would be appreciated.

Create your league in 1984 and proceed to opening day.
Once you've reached opening day and OOTP has run its calculations, remove the check mark from the "import historical modifiers for accuracy" box (I'm at work, so I may not have the exact wording correct).
Play your season and proceed through the offseason until you reach the next preseason. Look to see the day your next season starts on and proceed to the day 2 days before opening day.

Now you want to put the check back in the box for "import historical modifiers for accuracy" Once the box is checked, go directly above and select "1984" (it will be on 1985 if you started in 84 or will be whatever season you are currently in). Once you select 1984, the game will run the calculations----status bar will show progress across top of screen.

Once the calculations are run, you want to remove the checkmark. This is important, because if you leave the box checked, in two days when you reach opening day the game will run calculations again and use whatever your current year is. so remove the checkmark

Rinse and repeat this process every season and you will be able to keep things in 84 forever. Or if you want, pick a series of years, say 80-84. Hope this helps.

Thanks!
That's a huge help. I did not know you had to repeat the process every year.
