Will this work?
So, it occurred to me (only now for some reason) this if I start a league in 1937 with 32 major league teams (just adding 16 more and dividing the leagues into two divisions of 8 teams each), and then run a fantasy inaugural draft, and keep the league at 32 teams WITH historic minors, (color barrier off), then inevitably I will get Pacific Coast League, Negro Leagues and Texas League players in the draft for the majors. That should continue if I keep the draft rounds numbers at a reasonable level - say 8 rounds.
So, I should then have a league - that goes beyond the original MLB population and with no team being able to get enough players without having PCL, Negro League and Texas league - and whatever good players are in other minors - on their major league rosters - right? Any thing I am forgetting? |

Interesting concept I cannot offer any help but would like to know if you can make it work. It would give me another way to start a league.

I may be wrong, but I think in order to use historical minors, one must also have expand according to history enabled. If so, you can't modify league structure, as it will only revert to historical form following your first season.

I think you are right, David. I like the OP’s concept though. It sounds interesting.

I've actually thought about this idea before, glad to know i'm not alone! I'm definitely not smart enough to figure how how to make it happen though

i was thinking you could use a .txt file to import the players each year, but if you had to do both the majors and minors, and that would give you a lot of duplicate players. Right off the top of my head, i don't see a text file import as a solution without a LOT of editing out duplicates. Dang thought i may have had a solution, but alas ....

I tried it but the Negro League players did not show up. Seems like only the players who at some point played in the MLB leagues are included in the initial draft.
Have to do some more thinking. Thanks everyone. |

ps, I know this is not the right forum, but since people here are more familiar to me:
I had to get a new computer and the 3D players look like ghosts now when I play: they have one leg and no torso, no face when sideways or running. Any ideas? |

Negro League players should have shown up. They are in the minor league database and minor league .csv files. if you need a list of just the Negro League players, i have (somewhere on this computer) a list that was generated for 18.
