Still debating that. Probably soon though as I'd like to get the forums ready first. Already in the process of doing that.

I will check in on the forums weekly and eventually post a topic about it. Hope to see you there.

I have experience with running OOTP as a co-commish so I'm expecting FHM2 to be somewhat similar.

Probably won't be too picky at first with GMs but typically league's I've run in the past all ended up being writing league's where forum participation was mandatory. Hoping to achieve that result again.
I'm in one league for basketball and one for OOTP 15. The basketball one, forum participation, draft scouting and article writing is mandatory and I love it! The OOTP 15 league I'm in does not require any article writing but everyone is so into the league that they write for fun. It really makes the league that much more enjoyable when people are highly engaged regardless of their team's place in the standings.

Depending on the initial reports about the game I could be interested in joining. Would you be doing fictional or real teams?

I prefer Fictional since we can keep the league smaller (20 teams) but the last couple leagues Ive run were fictional leagues.

I am torn between modern NHL while drafting fictional players, a full fictional league or a hybrid that involves real teams (maybe not 30) but fictional players

I think it depends on the amount of GMs that are interested in joining. If we could fill a full 30 team league then that becomes an option. If we only get about 20 guys that want to join then fictional may be the way to go.

Problem with that idea is GMs will want to know what type of league they are joining before hand. Some guys will join expecting a modern day league and drop out if it turns to fictional.

I'm leaning towards fictional but experience has shown me spots are more difficult to fill in fictional leagues but they usually come with more dedicated GMs.

Any decision made on your league yet? I know the game isn't coming out for another month but it never hurts to start recruiting interest early to get the ball rolling.

Confident I will be going with a fictional league.

You are welcome to stop by the forums and register for the time being. Ignore the logos and such as they were there from the previous league that was run. Eventually I will have the forums redirected from http://majorleaguehockey.net but for now you can visit the forums at Home | Major League Hockey

I will be removing the ads as well.

Cool, I'm signed up! Guess I should start thinking about a team name and location. Any idea on how many teams you would have in the league?

Aiming for 20 if that is an option. 10 per conference.

May even want to split up the conferences. North America and Europe/World.

So I can't really compare the FHM Online League mode with FHL.
I was in a few FHL leagues. It was fun for a while, but the sim engine kind of sucked.

There was one owner who had an embarrassment of riches as far as depth.
I think a prime Kovalchuk was on his 3rd line.
His AHL team was so good, I'm sure it would have beat most of the NHL teams in our league.

However, he could never win the Cup. Instead, he'd always lose in the conference finals or in the Finals to a team that was far inferior.

I know, I know, anything can happen. But far too often, mediocre teams would make it to the Cup and win.
I know first hand because one of my teams did. I had no business being there. Especially when my first line centre was Jeff Taffe. Remember him? Nobody else does either.

We later found out that the FHM software would increase players attributes depending on the strength of the overall roster.
So with a poor team like I owned, a scrub like Taffe, who was was probably an OV of 63, was able to perform like an 80OV.

This meant that teams with very strong rosters would have players that underperformed.

The stacked team I mentioned above never had more than 1 player score more than a point-per-game.

When we discovered this information, we made the change to the Simon Hockey software - which was a good upgrade.

Anyhoo, I'm really looking forward to seeing what FHM2 has in store.
