Question Weird Crash Problem

I'm having a weird crahing problem. Whenever I start my computer, the game runs fine the first time I start it. However, if I quit and try to start the game again I simply get an illegal operation error and the game crashes. For whatever reason, this seems to mess up Internet Explorer too, as it will periodically crash and say that it has to restart. If I reboot everything goes back to normal until I start the game and quit out, which starts the problems all over again. I have patched up to 5.12. I don't know if it matters, but I did delete some of the older almanac files to clear up some hard drive space. My free hard drive space usually fluctuates around a gig.
Specs:
Pentium III 700 mhz
128 mb ram
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Your HD free space is probably the reason, free up a good deal more space (I'd say atleast a gig or so to be safe) and you should have no more issues.

I have a similar problem and there's ~10 gig free on my HD. I can get in and out of the game easily for a while but eventually it'll have an illegal operation when I try to execute it. The game freezes if I leave it open long enough. My entire system will eventually freeze and report "dangerously low on resources" if I close the game even after just playing for a few minutes. Sounds like my copy of the game has a memory leak somewhere.

I have:

OOTP 5.12
AMD Athlon 1800+
256 MB RAM
Win98SE
