Double Switch AI
Please, for the love of God, can you fix this glaring problem with how the AI handles a double switch for the next version? I'm happy that it decided to use the strategy. The starter is getting shelled. He is due up second when Pittsburgh comes to bat. However, why the hell is it using the catcher's spot in the fifth inning for this? Why does it seem that the AI is careful about using your backup catcher as a pinch hitter, which I agree with unless carrying three catchers, but in a double switch spot all logic goes out the window? Hell, the catcher's spot isn't even the "best" spot in the order to put the pitcher in since the second baseman made the last out the previous inning. And the second baseman has a DTD injury so that would seem to lend more weight to the idea of pulling him in this spot. The backup catcher is also not even the best bat on the bench at this point.
I know it is hard to get complex strategies modeled correctly with an AI. But it just seems to me that a few parameters could be established for this strategy such as "don't use the double switch in the ninth inning when bringing in the closer with a lead unless it corresponds with a defensive replacement" or "prior to the 8th(?) inning only use the catcher's spot in a double switch as a last resort unless there are two catchers on the bench". For context, I'm only speaking about the modern game and modern sims as I'm not as well versed on how substitution strategies were employed back in the 1920's. This is a playoff game but I don't think that changes anything here.
