Are there any restrictions on trading recently signed free agents?

For example, if a team signs a free agent in January, could they turn around and trade him away in February of that same year? OOTP seems to allow it, but it feels a bit unrealistic to me.

I did a Google search to see if there is any real life MLB rule related to this, but didn't find anything. Does anyone know if there is a rule, or know of an example of such a trade happening IRL?

I think there might be a MLB rule that prevents a newly signed free agent from being traded before June 1st unless he waives his "no trade" right. I'm not positive on this though.

As far as I know, this is allowed. The only restrictions are the "10 and 5 rule"(can't be traded without consent if 10 years MLB service and 5 with same team) or if he has a no trade clause in his contract.

I found this after some extended internet sleuthing...

Quote:
8. An Article XX-B MLB free-agent who signs a Major League contract after 11:59 PM (Eastern) on the 5th day after the final game of the World Series has an automatic "no trade" right through June 15th. The player can waive this right, but if he does he can be traded only for cash and/or player contracts with a maximum aggregate value of $50,000. Note that an Article XX-B MLB free-agent who signs a minor league contract after 11:59 PM (Eastern) on the 5th day after the final game of the World Series does NOT receive an automatic "no trade" right, even if the player is later added to the club's MLB Reserve List (40-man roster).

This is probably true, but it's not from an official source.
