Two way players - how to view scouting report
In OOTP 18 and prior, switching a player's position from position player to pitcher and vice versa resulted in the scouting report changing immediately to coincide with the position the player is now listed at.
In OOTP 19, a player is given a scouting report for whatever position the game determines he should be. For example, in one league a player was drafted first overall as a pitcher, but never really panned out. Instead, he was switched to a 1B after age 30 and has been one of the dominant batters in the league. Now a free agent and a conversion to OOTP 19, the player is now listed and scouted as a RP even though he hasn't pitched in 8 seasons. He had 540 plate appearances with a slash line of .282/.383/.406 last season (the first time he has batted below .330 since switching positions). Why is the game insisting on scouting him as a RP? Also, why won't the scouting report update when his position is switched to 1B?!?

Seems weird that he'd still get scouted as a RP - probably a bug there in how we pick position with his values that's out of whack.
As for choosing, you can't right now, but we can likely make some small tweaks so that you at least get something when you change positions. Due to how we handle the text, some of it may not read quite right, but you should at least be able to get a sense of them as a hitter or vice versa. |

Tim Burton! 141 career starts, 109 career saves (113 ERA+ and 94 FIP-); .324/.456/.467 career hitter. Too bad he didn't become a full-time hitter until he was 34.

asked this in 'new to the game' too. I drafted 3 minor leaguers who hit and pitch. all 3 have better potential as hitters. Am I better off only having them hit? will pitching take away from their hitting development?
I set their position as batters, but I still see them on my pitchers screen. I take them out of the rotation and they show at the bottom of my bullpen. so, I think they are going to pitch nomatter what I do. is that bad? |
