In the real-life MLB, yes. The Wildcard Game is a single-game playoff.

Yes, it is.

Although, if you were first overall, you shouldn't have been in the wildcard game in the first place...

only situation where 1st place would be one and done, would be tie breaker, and then not good enough to be wild card.

Ah, I didn't catch the first-place overall bit.

In that case, the above is probably true. If you were first in the division, but tied with the Sox for overall record, you would have played a one-game series to decide the division winner. And then if you lost and your record was worse than the two wildcard teams, you'd be out of the playoffs entirely.

A pretty rare situation, but very possible.

This. That one-game playoff wasn't the wild card game.

Screen shot of standings at the end of the season and before the playoff game would be nice.

i won 101 games and chicago won 86. so it wasn't a tie. basically i didn't even realise the playoffs had started, and then they were finished. when i looked back at my schedule, i had lost 1 game vs chicago. i think it said a wild card game. (not sure tho). I can't get a screenshot of anything after, because i wanted to see what the hell went down and i got out of the game without saving it, so i could try again. the second time i won the game vs chicago and I am now playing cincinatti. but i don't feel like moving on til i figure out what happened lol

Oh, wait a minute, first place in the entire league? Okay, yeah, something's seriously messed up there. You should have gotten a bye for the Wild Card round and then played the Wild Card winner in the ALDS. No idea what happened, maybe someone else can figure it out.

yeah..i basically simmed until like november and then thought it was weird the playoffs hadn't started.I then looked back and saw that one game against chicago was the only one i lost. i had all the league news turned off so i didn't see any messages about anything either.

Maybe you'd be willing to post a pic of the playoffs screen too? That'd probably help us figure out what the deal is.
