Challenge for the self proclaimed Solo-League, AI-bashing Guru's...

I've been thinking about a new way to play solo and was curious how many play this way. Instead of sticking with one team throughout the whole game and winning so much to make the Yankees jealous, who takes over the worst team after winning a world series and sticks with them until they win one?

I am wondering how many years it would take to win a championship with every team, no house rules, no holding back. It seems like it would be a very fun challenge.

I've done this in console sports games but never OOTP. That actually sounds like fun. Of course, the tough thing would be to resist trading all your prospects for a win now mode.

You could trade all your prospects for a win now, but that is not without risk. If you fail to win it all, then you'd be stuck there without prospects until you do finally win the world series. The goal is always to win a championship, but at the same time, you must look towards the future to ensure that you stay competitive.

I usually play with a fictional league, and always GM the worst team. Strangely, I start to lose interest once the team becomes a contender.

For anyone who loses interest beating up on the AI, I challenge you to join an online league. That is where OOTP really shines, IMO.

Oh yeah, online leagues are awesome, but sometimes I just want want to sim. Online leagues are at a much slower pace. you also can't play out games online. there's definitely a place for a solo challenge like this

People are beating up the AI?

Not a concept my mind can grasp.

As somebody who plays out all of his games, this would take forever and a day to do.

Mets wouldn’t be bad to start with either

Marlins, Marlins, and Marlins (and the Marlins)

Seriously though, the Marlins will have the worst team by far; but the Tigers will probably be the next toughest, and then maybe the Royals. Giants have some players now, but they will get old quick. Oriels will be tough too probably.

If you expand it out:

4. Reds
5. Tigers
6. Pirates
7. White Sox
8. Blue Jays
9. Mets
10. Royals

See I am a O’s fan so I have to not use them. Going with Mets

My fictional league team started out handicapped by the worst GM/Coach you could imagine

I figure that was handicap enough.

We're doing much better now.

It doesn't really take but a few years, trade off top players for draft picks and just build through the draft. because there's always a couple draft prospects who are ready

Draft pick trading is an abomination that should disqualify you from this discussion, though...

It's far too easy to use draft pick trading in this sort of challenge.

Either you trade away all your picks in "win now" mode, or trade for a bunch of picks in "rebuild" mode. Either way, it's not fun.
