Coaches disappearing

Twice during the off season, coaches have disappeared from teams. This time, part way thru free agency, 3 teams lost a total of 5 minor league managers and 1 scout... They were there before running the free agency days, and then after some days went by, they were gone.

This is a fictional league being played on-line. We have been using 5.01.

Do coaches retire? I have a guy who has 55 years of experience.

I don't think so. Some of these had just signed contracts earlier in this off-season. My understanding is that retirements occur as you "proceed to next season."

I haven't noticed any coaches "disappearing" though.

Well this is a serious issue, and *still* hasn't been addressed. In our league we've been bitten by this bug 6 times!! in OOTP5 5.12.
It's getting to be a joke that a problem that corrupts game data has been left for so long, at least 3 pathes 5.10/5.11 and 5.12 and nothing at all visable has been done to fix it. In my industry a bug that causes customer data corruption would be worked on round the clock to get resolved, but since it's a game and only hits you if you have coaches turned on it's seeming brushed under the carpet. Other issues have been outstanding for almost as long. To be honest I'd prefer no new features added until all the existing ones work correctly.

This is getting beyond a joke now!

Our league is currently at day 13 of the player free agency. I have just signed two coaches to a team and they were both signed and showed up clearly on the team in questions staff.

I have now imported the free agent bids via ftp for the next phase. When I checked, the two coaches I had just signed have disappeared from both the team and the coaches free agent list.

Soon we won't have any coaches left in the pool. It makes no difference whether or not the coaches have been taken staright from the FA list or editied beforehand. They still disappear.

Are you planning on doing anything about it?

Surely this is a more important bug than someones batting average being inaccurate by 0.00001%. Those type of faults seem to be rectified immediately!!

This HAS been looked at before and had seemingly been corrected, I need as much league detail as you can give me as it seems to be a VERY isolated event.

OK, I've found the cause of the problem!

As a league commish, if I sign a coach in the master copy of the game and afterwards import an EXP file for that same team, before that team has an updated set of league files, the coaches will disappear.

Something in the imported EXP file is saying "Those coaches weren't there in my owners version of the game so I will delete them".

If the same process was carried out with players, the lineup wouldn't import.

Can you now rectify it please? I know there is a work around, but that's not the point. It shouldn't happen!

I'm actually seeing the same thing in my online league, but noticed it most recently when we moved from one season to the next. At least one coach (61 years old, signed for the next 3 years) is gone, and he's not in the list of transactions/team news for retiring, and I can't find him anywhere. This is a 24 team fictional league. It's actually one of my coaches (commissioner), so that lineup was never imported. Funny thing is, this guy was one of the coaches that was added at the beginning of the last season, because my A manager after converting from OOTP4 to OOTP5 was missing. Any ideas?

happened to me before....Merv Rettmund (sp?) just vanished after bein the A's Hitting Coach for a while. Guess he decided he could make more money peddling The Hit Away then actually being a coach...

OK, fixed. Coaches do not get changed now when importing teams/lineups.
