Season 11 (2029) Discussion: 2/11/19-2/17/19
And away we go
Her are my teams Hungary Hungry Hippos - Gold .329 Winterfell Direwolves - Gold .307 Macon County Cardinals - Silver .288 Hungary Hungry Hippos have gone from experiment to my main team. They have been fairly dominant in Bronze and Silver their first four seasons, winning their division every season while amassing an overall record of 419-229 Winterfell Direwolves -This was my first team. They got as high as Diamond league where they stayed for 3 seasons before being relegated. I am thinking about rebuilding this team. I paid no attention at all to defense when building and as a result my pretty good offense has a hard time time staying ahead of the runs given up. I have not touched the team in 4 or 5 seasons and now have nearly 30,000 points for a rebuild if I choose. Macon County Cardinals - Another team that has all but been abandoned. It seems like a Team Centric build is a fools game. There are limited choices in some occasions. For the cardinals their are almost no worthwhile relievers outside their closers, and even their closers are not elite. I have 26,000 in points so I may keep building them but even now there are only 7 cards better than a silver on the Market. Two of those are Rogers Hornsby and are listed at >100,000. Diamond Stan Musial could be had but he would take my entire Point total to get. Of the others, only Red Schoendienst is an upgrade. |

Well, if you *have* the points, what stops you from getting that Stan Musial? I'd think a Stan Musial would make any team better.
Raccoons are back down to Diamond this season, but this looks like a very tough division to compete in. Just glancing at the card overall values (which is as scientific as throwing rocks through windows) we might at best be the fourth-strongest team in the division. So it comes down to baseball smarts! Okay, we're doomed.

I already have the lower rated Musial on the roster. I doubt the diamond version gets me out of silver on his own. I have some guys on this team that can hit but who are questionable on defense and may need to be replaced. I have an outfield of Musial, Joe Medwick and Enos Slaughter. There are going to be no gold gloves in that bunch. I do truly believe that there is not enough variety of players for some teams to field a competitive team much above gold level. All three of my teams are in the same league? How does that happen - I did not request anything other than to stay in my same league. Oh well

The Toms River Little League Champs finally made it to a Championship Series last week, on the back of a second straight MVP year out of Larry Dierker. They'll finally get a chance at Silver (.256). Post-season additions of Mariano Rivera (2008) and Todd Helton (2000) should help keep the squad contending. The goal for the season is to make the playoffs and get promoted to gold.
The New Jersey No Money, against all odds, posted the best record in the league and won the Silver Level Series, advancing to Gold (.339). Points are still pretty lean so the only real upgrade made after the season was picking up Bret Boone. Goal for the season is not to get relegated. Lastly, the Las Vegas Pack Crackers (free to play, packs only) have completed entry pool and look to make a run at the Bronze league (.353). A few good pulls - Wilbur Wood (88), Jeurys Familia, Matt Chapman, and Blake Treinen - will hope to carry a squad of mostly low tier players that shouldn't be getting play time. The goal for the season is to continue amassing PP and hope the team can improve. Last edited by FancySkunk; 02-11-2019 at 11:00 AM. |

Jurickson Profar's first at-bat of the season? Why, a pinch-hit grand slam! Attaboy, OPS+ of 1,164! =) =)

I am beginning to believe that certain players have like a slow start attribute.
Once again Perfect Mike Trout and Albert Belle are off to horrific starts. Here are the 3rd - 5th batters in the lineuo Trout .170 Albert Belle .218 Buddy Bell .140 These hitters will most likely come especially since both Trout and Belle started similarly last year But it is tough to come home after work on monday to see how we are doing and see that |

I rebranded my teams this season. I named them all after things related to songs by the band The National.
The Ohio Bloodbuzz are in Bronze .205. The Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks and the Beverly Road Geese are both in Silver .262 |

Maybe this will be my year.
I am in bronze yet again after three seasons in a row of 100+ wins. Bronze.347 to be exact. I am off to a 11-3 start. I hope I get promoted this season for the sake of the rest of my league. I beat up on bronze level teams all season long and never win in the playoffs. It is nice to rack up on PP but at some point I would like to advance and play against teams that are more competitive. My FTP team looks like I have spent money on them. But that is simply because of my now 7th straight season in bronze and opening close to 100 packs and having the luck to pull 3 diamonds and lots of golds. In fact my team runs nothing below silver players anymore Last edited by rudel.dietrich; 02-11-2019 at 06:36 PM. |

Ouch.
Not the kind of start my Diamond 385 level Bret Saberhagen (92, Top War, 1989) was hoping for. 3GS 0-3 16.1IP 35H 15ER 4BB / 15K 8.27ERA 2.37WHIP Very very ouch. Same guy had a WAR of 5.0 last season, and has been an All-Star the last two years, pitcher of the month, and won at least 13 games every year at Diamond so far. My Perfect team is actually 10-10 so far, more than happy with that.
