Undervalued Cards?
I'd have to say the most undervalued card I've had is the 1969 Record Breaker, Matty Alou (64 rated) Pittsburgh Pirates. IRL he hit .331 that year. So far I've had this card for about 70 games & I've played him 58 games. He currently has a .364 BA 13 steals, 16 K's 13 walks in 253 AB's. All I can say is this card rakes against all pitchers...35 runs scored too

Very Much Ageed Upon
Being an old Coot like me my favorite days of baseball were from 1970 thru the 1980's. I'd like to see more regular players from those years & have leagues setup just for those years without the Perfect, Gold, Silver, Bronze labels put on them. They would be so awesome. I know regular OOTP has all that but not in the way we could be assigned leagues like in PT. Anyway, season is only hours away & I'm ready as I'll ever be. I think I have only one current player in my Lineup (more in my pitching staff).
I think there are lots of undervalued cards out there if you search. |

I couldn't agree more,... just another aspect of this great baseball mode of play! This game mode has long legs if you ask me!

I have a Gold rated 80 Tommy Davis that I think is considerably better than almost all the Diamond and Gold left fielders rated higher than he.

That Davis is a great card, certainly underrated. The eye and error rate are weak, and those probably drag the OVR down some.

Lou Brock is one of the best speedsters in the game, I think he's more reliable that Rickey. Any version of Paul Waner is really good, if you can pair him with a righty platoon player, you should be able to eek out All-Star quality production.
Dominic Leone is a quality reliever/closer If you really need offensive production from a catcher, put Kyle Schwarber behind the plate. He has 40 ability/arm and can put up a .350+ OBP with ~30 bombs. Eric Thames and Tony Perez are great bronze first basemen. They also make a nice platoon if you have the bench space. I'm pretty sure Marco Scutaro is a bronze and he's a really reliable utility infielder. He can be a leadoff hitter in a pinch, a 6th hitter, or 8-9. I'm trying to compile a list of quality bronze players. My secondary team is all bronze players, they're the Bronze Brigadiers if anyone wants to peek at the roster. |

Willie Wilson is a nice LF/CF with solid defense, great speed, and can hit decently for average
I don't yet have a large sample size for Don Money, but he has good power and decent contact/strikeout ratings where he should be a solid hitter, and can play 1B/3B also I had great success with Kolten Wong at 2B in the entry league Last edited by Whoofe; 12-03-2018 at 10:13 AM. |

Cecil Cooper is a great silver. He was in a starter pack for my two teams. I finally see the first one in the AH.

I had Paul Waner on my beta team from day one through the end. . . . .I just thought his name was "Warner" until just now when I searched the AH and couldn't find him

The eye is weak but in Beta he hit 320's - 330's for me and in this Pool he just hit .337 with a BB here and there he gives me a solid 360's, 370's OBP so I do not mind that he is not a great walker. The error rating is worse than I would like. He has yet to cause me to lose a game from an error. He gets on base and can move on the bases. Looking at other cards I think he should be upper 80's rating, maybe even a 90.

My 2004 Ichiro was batting .398 after game 162 of the entry pool. So close.

I want to win but I kind of have an aversion to picking up Ichiro, as good of card as it is. It just seems like everyone is running with that card. In my entry league Ichiro had 3 or 4 of the top 7 slots for batting average at one point.

I'll take whatever help I can get at this point because every team but mine is stacked in my division for this season. I'll have the only Ichiro in it because every other team has someone like Mookie or Roger Maris in RF.

Lots of good bronze under-the-radar guys including:
RP: Chris Martin (63/55/80), Wander Suero (77/63/54), Nick Wittgren (67/65/60), Jose Ramirez (81/55/47) IF: Brock Holt (IF), George Burns (1B) (75 contact, 90 gap), Miller Huggins (2B), Jody Davis (C), Austin Hedges (C) OF: Alan Wiggins (IMO best bronze SB option and plays great LF), Topsy Harsel (60 contact, 62 gap, 88 eye, had a .400+ OBP during beta for me), Ramiel Tapia SP: Ross Stripling, Chien-Ming Wang (30/83/74 - much success with him in beta despite horrible stuff), Jose Berrios, Rick Porcello, Hyun-jin Ryu Last edited by Weaseltail; 12-03-2018 at 12:24 PM. |

In this past entry pool, Jerome Walton (CF, 66) and Colin Moran (3B, 64) led my team in batting average. Moran, in particular, was absolutely CRUSHING right handed pitching.
I also had a lot of success with Ervin Santana (68) in my Starting Rotation. |
