Random debut, limiting # of players???

Can you limit the number of players in you league other than deleting individual players. It seems like I always have 40 or more players per team even when I set the rookie draft to a very low number (2 or 3) and sim 4 or 5 years. Apparently players are entering back door via FA (even though I have finances turned off). I play with injuries off and therefore would like to play with a max of about 30 players in the league per team, otherwise I end up with several full time players sitting on the bench and even though my league stats are very close to my base year, individual stats seem to be depressed.
Thanks.

Have to ask this first. You said you set it to a low number 2 or 3. But, do you also have it set to only create enough players for 2 or 3?

Yes, 2 or 3 set for both-"number of rounds" and "import players for xx rounds".

Found my problem. I had Retire players players according to history checked but did not have "players miss seasons according to history" checked. Players in my league weren't retiring. I play with neutral stats OOTP 16. Learn something new every day.
Thank you for your response.

I believe if you're playing random debut, you cannot use the "retire according to history" function or the "players miss seasons according to history" function because by playing random debut, you're already in an alternate universe. I could be wrong though. You can turn on player development in addition to recalc in order to impact players one way or another after their real careers ended, but I'm not sure you can use the above two functions with random debut. David Watts will know better than me, but I believe we discussed it once a while back.

Thanks for replying. Sounds like I need to turn both off. I leave player development off but do use neutral stats.

All I'm saying is that since you can't really use "retire..." or "players miss...", you want to turn player development on as a sort of check and balance so that you don't get too many guys having extremely long careers. I turn mine on at default settings. It is your game, but that is my suggestion.
