Historical Rosters - Not all players showing up?

I started a new game with the 2007 season - was going to take over the Devil Rays. I did full minor league rosters, and turned off the draft so that guys joined the teams that drafted them.

One thing I noticed is that as of time of import, there's no David Price. He was the top pick that year, and everyone else i have looked up from 2007 draft is in the game in their teams minors, including guys who didnt ever make MLB. Am i missing something? Did i do something incorrectly?

i don't know if it's still this way, but in earlier versions, players came into the game the year after their actual debut. (that usually was when they appeared in the draft, which you have turned off ... so maybe in the offseason?) i also notice on BBref, David Price didn't get to Tampa's minors until 2008. (he is also listed in the minor league csv file as a 2008 minor leaguer ....) So he may not show up, at earliest, until the off-season of 2007. Or 2008.

thats interesting. That must be what it is. I did happen to find that wieters wasn't in here either, and he didnt playin minor league ball til 2008 either. Thanks so much!

If a player didn't play any Major League games for that year then it doesn't really make sense to bring him in 2007. The historical teams would be misrepresented if you had David Price importing in 2007 in which he did not play a game for Tampa instead of 2008 in which he did. Of course that doesn't mean you can't import him in 2007 or change the draft date. Its your choice there.
If you want teams to have the rosters of players that actually played for them i would leave the draft in dec. Otherwise you will have players playing as rookies in year in which they may have not played any games for that team.

Thanks. That makes sense. I haven't done this deep of a historical sim before so I wasnt sure. Looks like at the end of the 07 season, the guys will import that made their MILB debuts in 08.

I appreciate all the help.
