Just wanted to chime in that I have yet to figure out how to prevent my minors from running dry using imported historical rookies (without ghosts or fictional players). historical minors are not enabled. I'm just at a loss right now as to how to set it up properly.

I started a historical league in 1978 with 3 minor league levels (AAA-A) and after simming to 1980, I have 44 players in my entire organization.

I'm assuming that since it's importing historical rookies, there were many players who were drafted by clubs that never became actual MLB rookies, so only a handful of guys (the ones that made it to the show) show up each season. Just a theory I have.

Anyways, any help is greatly appreciated.

Without historical minors on and a draft this will occur.

I tried it with historical minors on as well and they dried up too, would I have to turn historical rookies off then?

Or is there a way to keep stocked minors without having a draft? It kind of defeats the purpose of the league I'm shooting for, but I'll learn to deal with it.

1) Historical minors and draft on works

2) Historical minors and no draft used to work but is now broken.

Currently your only working choice is #1

Perfect, thanks. I was trying to avoid a draft, hopefully there's a fix soon.

Is this still the case for OOTP 18? I tried to start in 1871 with choice #2 and no free agents appeared when the season was over.

Still the case AFAIK. The 1872 rookie class appears after the 1872 post-season rather than after the 1871 post-season.

In 17 the game used to create a thousand or so fictional players for the empty 1871 draft. I think that part of the challenge has been stopped.
